Nintendo Life (Jun 03, 2008)
If you’re seriously addicted to scrolling fighting titles then this might entertain to a limited degree, but it pales into insignificance when placed alongside some of the shining lights of the genre. Veteran Neo Geo addicts may have some treasured memories of this, seeing as it was one of the very early titles for the elite console, but in the cold light of day it’s hard to get excited about such a lifeless piece of software.
IGN (Jun 18, 2008)
All of this adds up to a profoundly unappealing gameplay experience, and you’ll certainly wish you could turn time back on your Wii Shop Channel if you make the mistake of investing 900 Wii Points on Ninja Combat. Nine bucks for this, really? Save your digital dollars for some much more worthy WiiWare or Virtual Console release, everybody – Ninja Combat is below-average brawling and doesn’t deserve a spot on anyone’s Wii.

Each character has a projectile attack that kills pretty much everything before they can reach you, and you get infinite continues, so the whole thing can be ploughed through in less than half an hour with little reason to repeat the experience. And all for 900 Points. Consider what else you can get on the VC, and on WiiWare, for about the same amount. Yep. Let this one rot.
