Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is definitely the best Spider-Man game to date and it is steeped in Spider-Man lore from four unique universes in the history of the comic books. While many games in the past have disappointed, players looking for the definitive Spider-Man experience needn't look further than Shattered Dimensions. With any amount of luck, Beenox will return to this concept again and explore more Spider-Man universes and unique villains.

While this isn't going down in history as a revolution in comic book video games - there are few that even could - I feel that Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions is the best Spidey game to date. It keeps things fresh with the four versions of our hero, but doesn't confuse people with entirely different move sets or control schemes. The bosses and villains you fight are interesting and have some real personality due to some great voice acting, and the four Spideys are voiced very well, too. While this doesn't quite have the shotgun approach to mixing in as many Marvel characters as possible, the gameplay is much better than in past games and the classic conflicts shine through better. Even if you're not a huge comic book or Spider-Man fan, you could do a hell of a lot worse than to grab Shattered Dimensions and play through it before the "real" fall season of game releases starts.

Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions has a lot of great things going for it. Some of the levels and boss battles are phenomenal. Beenox took a lot of chances with this game, most of which paid off in something unique and refreshing. Some old issues (bad camera, repetitive combat) still haven't been completely solved. And Wii owners may struggle at times without having a way to center the camera. But the good outweighs the bad. Spidey fans should definitely pick this one up.

Spider-Man : Dimensions réconcilie avec succès la série avec le jeu vidéo. Fort d'un gameplay vivant et d'une mise en scène impeccable, on voyage entre les dimensions sans trop se lasser même si certains niveaux sont sans doute un peu trop longs. Peu importe, l'univers drôle amené par des dialogues franchement sympas vaut vraiment la peine d'être découvert, du moins si on apprécie l'humour des comics.

This is one of the better and more interesting Spider-Man games I've played to date. While still shy of greatness, it's definitely worth a look for Spidey fans or anyone who enjoys third person action. For most, a rental will likely suffice due to the relatively brief campaign and lack of additional content.

Het leveldesign van het spel is erg gevarieerd, maar de lineaire opzet en het gebrek aan echt grote verschillen tussen de dimensies weerhoudt deze superheldengame hetzelfde te doen voor Spider-Man als wat Arkham Asylum heeft gedaan voor Batman.

Letztlich lassen sich die Spinnenmänner dimensionsübergreifend stets auf die gleichen, auf Dauer trockenen Prügelmechanismen zurückfallen, die zu selten durch gelungene Momente wie Deadpools TV-Show auf der Bohrinsel aufgelockert werden. Wenn nicht das durchweg hervorragende Artdesign und die Präsentation samt cooler Sprachausgabe von u.a. Spidey-Schöpfer Stan Lee wären, die problemlos einen Platz in der Spitzengruppe der Superhelden-Umsetzungen einnehmen, würde die Jagd des Netzwerfers auf Mysterio komplett untergehen. Doch die Inszenierung, die letztlich gelungenen Bosskämpfe sowie zahlreiche Geheimnisse und freispielbares Material, das sich in den linearen Abschnitten versteckt hält, können einen immer wieder bis zum Finale bei der Stange halten, das sich nach acht bis zehn Stunden zeigt.

Si le jeu avait été proprement débuggé, je lui aurais mis un 3. Entre les incessantes vagues de mooks, il y a des moments d'excellence qui montrent que les dévéloppeurs ont fait un effort et ont essayé de produire un titre de qualité. La morale de l'histoire les amis est qu'il ne faut pas vendre la license de son super héros à Activision. Sur ce, je m'en vais continuer mon boycot de cette infâme compagnie.
