But these minor problems aren't enough to keep Super Swing Golf from being a great golf game. If you don't need real world licensing or scenery, if you're willing to power through some gratifying RPG advancement with your duffing, and if you don't mind the cloying kiddie graphics, Super Swing Golf is the definitive fantasy golf game.

In the end, Super Swing Golf is all about a deep, lengthy single player experience (although the multiplayer portion is quite robust) and a swing mechanic that feels incredibly realistic. Fans of Albatross18 will easily be swayed by this title and any real golfer should do himself/herself a favor and try SSG for the simple fact that while cute looking, it feels as authentic as can be. True, the camera can be a pain and the AI can be tough in areas, but Super Swing Golf is one of the better titles to grace the Wii yet. Pangya!

In the end, it's apparent that the developers really wanted this to be a great game, and in some small aspects, they did a great job. It's not perfect, but if you want some quirky fun, better-than-average golf simulation, and hot manga chicks in glasses and skimpy swimsuits, this game is definitely worth a look.
I'm not crazy about the system of dots used to show you the breaks on the greens, but that's a minor flaw in an otherwise solid title.

Super Swing Golf provides a nice alternative in between Zelda marathons, but still has enough depth for a player to become deeply involved with it. While some players may be put off with the game’s design and/or controls it’s all a matter of personal taste in the end. I’d definitely recommend that a player who’s on the fence should rent the game before deciding whether to make a purchase.

Overall, Super Swing Golf is a fun game with a couple of issues that need to be worked out. Firstly, there needs to be a way to adjust the computer’s level of perfection to make swing mode usable outside of multiplayer games. Also, if there is indeed a second installment, I’d love to see proper widescreen support for the game. While the game isn’t perfect by any means, it is far more entertaining than the simplistic golf game included with the system and is a worthwhile pickup if you enjoyed what you saw in Wii Sports.

Unfortunately at times the AI can be tiresome. Seeing the computer come back from the verge of losing by pulling off extremely lucky shots is quite irritating…either that or I am a sore loser. Likewise, when they decide to hit the same shot into the water nine times in a row, things can get rather frustrating. Camera angles can also be a pain; at times scenery will block you from seeing the direction your shot took. Asides from these relatively infrequent issues, Super Swing Golf is a flawless experience.
Although Super Swing Golf has various mechanics of a serious looking golf game, the actual style itself will put many gamers off, which is a shame. By the end of my sessions with the game, I found myself growing from being semi-interested in what the game could offer to almost putting on a golf glove in order to improve my performance. I didn't actually go that far, but hey, I thought about it. While the game itself suffers from a number of faults, especially in terms of putting and overall A.I., the experience itself is one that is truly exceptional and fun, even if you have to sit and watch a shot. The graphics and sound aren't amazing by any means, but you'll certainly grow to love the gameplay and that's really what counts. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a tournament to attend.

I just have to issue one small warning: if you're out of shape, you'll find that swinging the Wii Remote through 18 holes of virtual golf can actually be a workout. It didn't take long for me to realize that quitting the gym was a big mistake. I was tired, I was sore, but I still wanted to keep playing. That's a good sign. I understand that some of you may be turned off by all the special swings and item boosts and "kiddie" anime style of this game, but if that's your only reason for avoiding this title you'd be doing yourself a huge disservice. I think SSG is a fine addition to any Wii collection and it'll definitely stay on my shelf for a long time to come.

Por último nada más recordar que este frenético título de golf llamado Pangya Golf with Style está disponible en Europa desde el pasado 4 de Junio a pesar de que en Japón lleva desde que Wii salió al mercado, también decir que se ha hecho oficial el anuncio de su segunda parte para Wii de la que aún desconocemos datos.
However, I do like that Super Swing lets you earn special shots if you've got enough Pang. Throw in some crazy locations around Pangya Island (including some wind tunnels) and you've got yourself a good enough time to keep you shooting birdies all the way to the 19th hole.

It may be caught in a weird time for Super Swing Golf -- too soon after Wii Sports and too close to Tiger Woods. Taken in that context, I'm not sure who this game will appeal to the most. Anime characters and special shots may not be for everyone, but it's a fun diversion that features enough style, varied courses and a solid enough control scheme to be another strong step for sports on Wii.

My best recommendation would be to try this game before you buy it, either at a friend’s house or rent it. Most everybody I know who has played Super Swing Golf either loves it or hates it and surprisingly, there is no middle ground. Personally, I had a great time with this game and fun is what it’s all about.

With an engrossing story mode and challenging gameplay physics that really do require you to learn proper golf-club swing techniques to be successful, as long as you can get past the anime-inspired, girly-game graphical presentation, Super Swing Golf is worth a round on the virtual links to those who enjoy the casual golf gaming aspect of Wii Sports golf similar to Hot Shots! or Mario Golf instead of the more simulation-centric Tiger Woods PGA Tour.

Whether you're looking for a golf game to keep you busy while the real greens are frozen over, or just want to play the sport without having to play it, you'll find something to like about Super Swing Golf. It's charming despite its quirks, accessible despite its depth, and fun despite its flaws.

It might look childishly simple, but Super Swing Golf has great control and a ton of courses and content to offer. So many launch titles offer interesting controls and minimal longevity, but this is a club you can swing well into next year.

There’s a ton of replay value if you decide it’s something you’re into, with a sizeable roster of players (each with a ton of different outfits and accessories to purchase as you progress in the game), about a dozen or so different 18 hole courses, and three multiplayer modes (two of which can have up to four players with a single remote). If you’re fan of the gameplay, Super Swing has a strong amount of lasting appeal, and like Wii Sports Golf you won’t have to drop extra cash on more remotes and nunchuks to enjoy a few rounds of golf with friends or family. That being said, the root of Super Swing’s gameplay is absolutely love it or hate it. We can’t stress enough how much personal preference goes into a game like Super Swing. Scores from people around our office put it anywhere from a 5.0 to the lower 8.0 range, spanning nearly every number in-between. Put some thought into whether or not you’ll be into the style, or “try before you buy” if possible.

Silly storylines, generic characters, and shady rules aside, Super Swing Golf does a solid job of creating an enjoyable golf simulation for all ages. Making your way through the single-player modes can be a tedious venture, but the multiplayer is fun and the swing controls seal the deal. With some significant upgrades, Super Swing Golf could establish itself as a strong competitor to Mario Golf, which seems guaranteed to hit the Wii sometime in the near future.

Super Swing Golf is a decent game that could have been much better if the developers took just a little bit more time refining the controls and working on the AI to make sure it doesn’t “cheat” as much as it does. Even though this is the case with this game you will still find many hours of enjoyment.

Pangya! Golf with Style ist ein gutes und grundsolides Fantasy-Golfspiel. Liebevolle Anime-Charaktere und ausgefallene Kurse haben ihren eigenen Charme und auch die vielen Extras fesseln erstmal länger an den virtuellen Golfschläger. Die fehlende Abwechslung in den Modi sorgt jedoch ebenso schnell, wie der fehlende Online-Modus, für nachhaltige Ernüchterung. Hoffen wir, dass der bereits angekündigte zweite Teil, diese Makel behebt.

If you’ve been hitting eagles on Wii Sports then expect a shock. Super Swing Golf is harder and deeper than the competition.

In the end, Super Swing Golf may not be the perfect game of golf some of us were hoping for, but it certainly is a good effort. The game definitely capitalizes on its effective use of the Wii controls, which may not appeal to everyone. My recommendation would be to try this as a rental, and then go from there to see if this game is worth the full purchase price.

The game offers a lot more features than the golfing part in Wii Sports, but is Pangya! worth buying? The golfing seems a lot more realistic but the game loses its value due to the high difficulty degree, a (much) too slow gameplay and – although this factor is rather personal – the manga drawing style. On the other side the game does contain a large amount of tracks which will occupy you for some time.

As you can tell I have mixed feelings about the game. Although it's simply quite entertaining in some aspects, it also fails to impress in others. The game itself can get very frustrating and feel like a chore to play through. However it's colourful, the amount of unlockables will drive certain players who like to collect items and the stats system also adds depth. The content for a golf game can be quite overwhelming at times, and the repetitiveness in single player does become some what boring. On the other side multiplayer is great, the pang bonus adds a new dimension to golf games. One factor that lets the game down from its online versions is the fact that this game cannot be played online. So for those of you older Pangya golf fans, this may be a very big disappointment for you personally.

Simply put, Super Swing Golf is an extremely solid golf simulation title. The Wii Remote mechanics work well for the most part, and the option to bypass motion controls in favor of good ol' fashioned button pressing is a welcome one. A fairly wide selection of gameplay modes and unlockables is marred only by the unfortunate lack of online functionality. It may not have a whole lot to offer owners of the original, but this is easily one of, if not the most competent golf games currently available for the Wii.

Yet, the game fails to capture the realism of Electronic Arts' Tiger Woods franchise. Fantasy golf works, but consumers, particularly the non-gamers that purchased Nintendo's Wii, may want to wait for a more traditional and mature golf game. Otherwise, Super Swing Golf provides globs of fun for the miniature golf set.

If you’re a fan of golf, there is no reason not to get Pangya! Golf with Style. Once you come to terms with its fantastical approach, you will find a solid and extremely playable game. The control system is the best of any golf game on the Wii so far, and while not perfect, sets it above its rivals. There are problems with parts of the game, and while the areas affected are not the actual game mechanics, it may not be realistic enough representation of the sport for some. The absence of online play stops Pangya obtaining the score of a great game, but if you want an interactive golfing experience, it's hard to be beaten.

The more we played, the more we warmed to Pangya!, but we’re still unlikely to go back to it. If you’re an absolute golf nut who also loves a cutesy Japanese presentation, you could do worse, but the bottom line is, if you’re only going to buy one golf game for Wii, you’d be far better off just hanging out for Camelot’s “We Love Golf” instead of picking this one up.

Mal abgesehen davon, dass dieses Pangya Golf auf dem kostenlosen (!) PC-Spiel Albatross 18 basiert und jetzt ohne große Änderungen zum unverschämten Vollpreis erscheint, hat es mich trotz seines heiteren Charmes, zig freispielbarer Objekte und fantasievoller Kurse ein wenig enttäuscht - und das, obwohl es den aktiven Schwung nutzt und damit den Weg verfolgt, den Wii Sports vorgegeben hat. Aber man tut es nicht konsequent genug, denn obwohl die Remote den Schläger simuliert, fehlt das Gefühl, wirklich auf dem Platz zu stehen: Aushol- und Abschlagbewegung hätten noch präziser in einem Fluss abgerufen werden müssen. Und wer hat sich nur dieses Putt-System ausgedacht? Ja, es gibt tolle Spezialschläge. Ja, es gibt viele putzige Figuren, viel Samba, etwas Rollenspielflair und Shopping ohne Ende, aber der sportliche Kern bleibt hinter den Erwartungen an ein bewegungssensitives Erlebnis zurück.

There's a lot to like about Super Swing Golf. The courses are great, balloon pop is lots of fun, and the Pangya Festa story mode will keep you busy for weeks. While it's not ideal when playing against the computer, swinging the Wii Remote like a golf club works well, especially when playing with friends. Unfortunately, there are numerous issues that make the game significantly less enjoyable than it could have been. The gameplay is inconsistent, and quite often, frustrating; many people who have played the game on the PC will miss being able to play online; and in some cases, the game can be a little too quirky for its own good. It's likely to be the only golf game headed to the Wii for some time, and it's certainly better than Wii Sports Golf, so if you're really looking to hit the links on the Wii, this is your best bet.

Super Swing Golf is a cute golf game with an interesting story mode, but does not add anything new to the genre aside from the Wii-mote gameplay. It’s primarily for arcade golf fans, but it’s definitely worth a rental.
If at all possible, it is essential to try the game out before purchasing, because ultimately the deciding factor will always be the swing controls. If a player enjoys the controls, then they can not find a better suited golf game, especially with so much replay potential. However, if a player despises the swing method, all that is left of Super Swing Golf are awkward controls, mediocre graphics, and an unsatisfying golf game.
Pangya is a fun golf game that brings just enough new to the table to be worthy of a look. Golf game nuts will certainly get a kick out of it, but for those that aren’t big on swinging their virtual club at the TV; this game is probably better served as a rental.

This ability of the computer to juice itself up and so easily take away your hard-earned lead just doesn't feel right even though it keeps it competitive, and can really cut into the experience. Couple this with the possible scenario that you don't have many friends who want to play multiplayer golf inside and Super Swing will most likely start collecting dust. Using a little 20/20 hindsight it is easy to say that Tecmo should have delayed the game until Nintendo got their act together with the Wii's online system, but such is life. Ultimately, if you and some friends are dying to play a more fleshed out version of golf on the Wii than what's offered in Wii Sports, Super Swing Golf may suit your needs. But even then I suggest a rental to make sure you can handle the quirkiness.

Super Swing Golf is caught between a rock and a hard place. Fans of Pangya on the PC will find it over-familiar and somewhat hollow without the online community aspects, and for anyone else the random and entirely unexplained Korean fantasy setting might be a distinct turn-off. It plays a decent game of golf, and the swing system works encouragingly well, but this was not designed as a single-player game (as evidenced by the dearth of game modes), and as a result it feels incongruous. Indeed, the entire game, courses, characters et al, was originally designed around the concept of online multiplayer, which on the Wii is no longer there. Super Swing Golf is a decent golf game, but it is difficult to justify spending money on this particular decent golf game when there is a free, constantly updated and considerably superior version readily playable on the PC.
OK, so this game looks pretty fucking fruity. Your "character" suffers from a chronic case of Is-It-a-Man-or-Woman Syndrome. Your "caddy" is a goddamn flying paperbag that looks like a cat. But look past all the fruit, and you'll find yourself a nice little golfing sim here. Grab the Wiimote—go on, don't be shy; we just had it checked for diseases—stand perpendicular to your big screen, and swing away like you're John Daly playing in the Arby's Invitational. Like all Wii games, this one asks you to get physical. If you're the kind of person who leaves the front door unlocked so the pizza boy can bring your large with cheese couch-side, don't bother with this game. But if you're willing to work up a lather, and you can tolerate a flying-cat paperbag, by all means plug this disc into your Wii and start swinging.

While not a must for the avid golf gamer, Super Swing Golf is certainly a game that will have all breeds of players hitting the links and having a genuinely jolly time. The multiplayer modes are certainly good for a competition amongst friends, but the time consuming campaign and lackluster graphics will wear pretty thin for the serious gamer. Maybe I'm spoiled, but I need more in a golf game than cartoon caddies and a morally congested storyline about courage and kindness. Pangya!
The real tragedy of Super Swing Golf is that the game's golf mechanics are generally sound. Character customization is a lot of fun, and there are some interesting RPG elements to utilize as you work your way through the game's tournaments. If there were a way to play through the single-player game without having to sit out for most of the action, it would make a world of difference, but as it is, Super Swing ends up feeling like a chore more than anything else. Get your motion-sensing jollies with Wii Sports Golf and pick up the GameCube's installment of Mario Golf for a much better time around the links.

It may be harsh to call Super Swing Golf terrible, but it does have a lot of flaws. The poor controls, badly designed courses and an unneeded level of wackyness provide nothing more but a few hours of distraction. Still if you’re a fan of PangYa or looking for an alternative sports game, then this may be right up your ally. Just don’t blame me if you think it’s below par.

Super Swing Golf is slim on modes (no online), the storyline is poppycock, and the lone minigame requires multiple controllers (while stroke play and match play don't). Still, there's plenty of good here, but for every bit of it, there's a spoonful of frustrating (sounds like real golf, doesn't it?). Super Swing Golf's a fun experiment -- the swing controls are even worth the risk of a back injury -- but unless you're playing with friends, even a short round just takes way too long.
