Aber das war dann auch schon die gesamte Kritik, denn insgesamt hat mir TMNT überraschend gut gefallen. Obwohl es ein Lizenzspiel ist und obwohl die Turtles nach 80er-Jahre miefen. Doch die abwechslungsreichen Schauplätze, das routinierte Leveldesign und die besonderen Fähigkeiten der Helden machen aus dem Spiel etwas mehr als die typische Durchschnittskost, die man von Filmversoftungen gewohnt ist.

Die Turtles schlagen sich leider nicht so gut wie erhofft. Obwohl die rasanten Kletteraktionen Spaß machen, ist die Steuerung stellenweise ein Graus. Die Massenschlachten wären auch nicht nötig gewesen. Dazu braucht man Armmuskeln wie ein Ninja-Krieger. Und dann noch die dürftige PAL-Anpassung. Nein, so geht das nicht.

"TMNT" não é de todo ruim, mas sofre com crise de identidade: mira os mais novos, mas tudo o que faz é retirar artificialmente o "game over". Muitas das fases se destinam principalmente aos jogadores com alguma experiência, mas os ninjas do joystick não encontrarão nenhum desafio. Ainda assim, é melhor que as últimas edições feitas pela Konami. Mas isso não é exatamente um elogio.

It’s unfortunate that the first TMNT effort on Nintendo Wii didn’t turn out so well. As a childhood fan of the movies, television series, and toys, I was hoping for more from Ubisoft’s first effort. They show promise, but future Turtles games need to have more of the awesome platform elements with a hint, maybe a spoonful of a fun, working combat system.

But these bonuses are not enough to save TMNT from its mediocrity. It is a bit of a shame that a game that features a crime-fighting foursome and pays so much lip service to teamwork feels like such a solitary adventure. But TMNT suffers all around from offering less than gamers might expect. The simple controls make the game accessible to young players, but kids with some gaming experience will likely find themselves wishing for more after a couple hours of play. As such, TMNT is a good choice for a weekend rental, but only die-hard fans of the wise-cracking heroes will enjoy having it in their collections.

Die besten Zeiten der Kröten sind lange vorbei - sowohl im Kino wie auch auf dem Spielbildschirm. Die wilden Prügeleien und halsbrecherischen Kletterpartien langweilen schnell und lassen sich aufgrund der ungenauen Steuerung nur schlecht kontrollieren. Testurteil: noch "befriedigend".

Quitte à renouer avec l'univers des tortues ninja à l'occasion du nouveau long-métrage, on aurait préféré découvrir un titre plus sérieux et plus ambitieux que celui-là. Le résultat est certes plus convaincant que les dernières tentatives de Konami, mais l'approche trop réductrice de ce titre le rend profondément ennuyeux.

One problem with this game is the enemy artificial intelligence (A.I.) — or rather, lack thereof — that makes the game too easy and monotonous, even when 10 enemies appear on-screen at the same time. The somewhat tougher boss characters you'll face from time to time can also be beaten with little effort. Granted, TMNT is more for kids than adults, but a game that costs up to $50 should offer some degree of challenge and replayability.

TMNT ist leider eine typisch schwache Lizenzversoftung. Der Umfang ist extrem mickrig, der Ablauf streng linear und der Inhalt besteht größtenteils aus altbekannten Versatzstücken anderer Spiele. Die an Prince of Persia erinnernden Jump & Run-Passagen inklusive Charakterwechsel-Möglichkeiten sind teils ganz ordentlich und der harmlose Schwierigkeitsgrad sorgt bei Anfängern sowie jüngeren Spielern für weitestgehend frustfreie Unterhaltung ohne jedoch irgendwelche Highlights zu bieten. Kämpfe und Story-Sequenzen sind sogar extrem öde. Die Wii-Fassung beinhaltet zusätzlich zwar noch eine Hand voll exklusiver Minispiele - die sind jedoch nur leidlich spannend und stehen in keinem Verhältnis zur nur halb so teuren, aber ansonsten inhaltsgleichen PC-Version.

Fans of the characters can continue their wait for a proper video game revival. The Turtles themselves may be hot on screen and on toy shelves, yet the game industry continues to fumble the license. This Wii adaptation hardly helps matters.
