"Wario Land: Shake It!"
N-Europe (Sep 25, 2008)
So, in the end, what makes this game such good clean fun, asides from the humour, the beautifully colourful graphics, the catchy tunes and the great gameplay? It’s that none of its special and unique traits are overused, conserving their said uniqueness. Vehicles don’t appear again and again, while the tilt and shake functions are tastefully and sporadically used, feeling natural and fluid instead of intrusive. All the other little quirks never overshadow the core of the game, making Wario Land: The Shake Dimension exactly what it should be; a game that throws you back to the days where you immediately had fun and enjoyed yourself playing videogames. Revolutionary? Hardly. Great? Definitely.
Though it's undeniably got plenty of replay value, there's just not quite enough of The Shake Dimension to warrant a Gold Award, and those who aren't interested in finding the hidden items are bound to feel short-changed. But more fool them: this is a deep, satisfying and delightfully nostalgic 2D platformer.
Worth Playing (Oct 02, 2008)
I really enjoyed Wario Land: Shake It!, but I can't say I was blown away by it. If you go into the game with your expectations in check and a willingness to explore the levels instead of just running through them, then you'll get a lot out of the experience. The controls are spot-on, and it's a great testament as to why 2D sprites are still a valid form of video-gaming fun today. I suggest picking it up for Wii owners; I don't think you'll be disappointed at all.
Shake it, Baby!
Armchair Empire, The (Oct 04, 2008)
With the recent release of the brutally difficult Mega Man 9 -- a throwback to the NES Mega Man games -- a game like Shake It! acts as a good counterpoint because while it can be approached with a hardcore attitude, it can easily be played with a much more relaxed frame of mind. Or by 9-year olds.
IGN (Sep 19, 2008)
Wario Land: Shake It! is a great new platformer with truly old-school ideals. So if you grew up playing and loving the classics, rest assured that you will love this game, too. It's got its share of modest shortcomings. It's not very innovative -- you've seen all this before in other platformers. The lack of a proper widescreen mode is downright annoying. And the core game is over a little too quickly for my liking. But, you know, it's still a really fun experience thanks to excellent control and fantastic level designs, not to mention a beautiful visual presentation. And even if you can reach the end without much resistance, completing all of the numerous secondary goals per level is an altogether different story, a truth that will definitely keep you coming back for more. If you are at all a fan of platformers, do yourself a favor and add this one to your collection. You'll be happy you did.

Tytuł można śmiało pokonać w 5 godzin, lecz jeżeli zależy wam na spenetrowaniu wszystkich dodatkowych lokacji i wyśrubowaniu dostępnych w nich wyzwań spędzicie z nią trzy, a nawet cztery razy tyle czasu. Trząchanie to nic strasznego.
Game Revolution (Oct 21, 2008)
Beyond my tirade of tradition, though, I seriously found Wario Land: Shake It! to be one of the best experiences I’ve had with a Wii game since Super Mario Galaxy. If you enjoy platform games, then this is a must-have for your collection. I find it rare that I play anything on the Wii that I really get into, and this game happens to be it for me. Now if I could just stop my hands from shaking.
IGN Australia (Sep 11, 2008)
And that's Wario Land: The Shake Dimension. It's really solid, though never mind-blowing or even particularly genre-defining in any one area. It is, in actuality, a fairly short and straightforward adventure that you'll either love intensely for a very short time -- say, over a weekend -- or you'll mildly enjoy it and take your time. Either way, for platforming purists and Nintendo fans, this is probably a moot point -- you've seen the videos, read the previews and probably plonked the dollars down for your preorder months ago. And fair enough too; Wario is good, clean all-ages fun and a solid addition to your collection.
Gameswelt (Oct 03, 2008)
Extreme Gamer (Sep 26, 2008)
To Shake It! or not to Shake It! that is the question, and the answer is yes. Wario Land: Shake It! isn’t the most revolutionary game on the Wii, but it is an enjoyable ride in a unibucket. Wario’s adventure into the shake dimension is an original take on a familiar tale with the king of bizarre himself. The only real downside to purchasing Shake It! is that is over fairly quickly. Depending on how fast you run through your games you might want to consider renting this one. Otherwise, pick up Wario in his second Wii title and Shake It! Shake It! Shake It!
Nintendo Life (Mar 27, 2009)
Without a doubt, Wario Land: Shake It! is the pinnacle of 2D gaming on Wii. The game is so well thought-out and executed that the price tag is a steal. If you are an old-school gamer wanting in on some 2D action, Shake It! won't disappoint. The only downside is the length of the game that to some will be a slap in the face. Four to five hours of gameplay simply isn't very long. Still, Shake It! brings platforming on the Nintendo Wii to new heights offering an enjoyable mix of motion control and standard gameplay.
Bright Hub (Apr 27, 2010)
Ultimately, Wario Land: Shake It! does a lot of things right and offers something different from Mario’s platforming adventures. Unfortunately, despite the fact that what the game brings to the table gameplay-wise is pure gold, it’s a very short experience overall. But as previously stated, what’s here is good, and gamers with a love for platformers or just fun games in general will enjoy Wario’s venture into the Shake Dimension.
Jeuxvideo.fr (Oct 08, 2008)
2008 could go down in history as the year of the platformer, or at the very least, the year that platformers refused to go quietly into the night. Braid, Mega Man 9, Bionic Commando: Rearmed and LittleBigPlanet are just a sampling from this banquet. Wario Land: Shake It arrives as a welcome guest, paying homage to past Nintendo classics. It showcases Wario’s unique brand of platforming (and attitude), featuring exceptional art design and a vibrant, inviting adventure. Wario may not sit tall among Nintendo’s Holy Trinity of Mario, Metroid and Zelda, but seeing the exceptional care and craftsmanship employed to make his new adventure shine makes one yearn for similar treatment for these other stalwart heroes. Old-school platform adventure gamers are urged to tickle that nostalgia bone and pick this one up. The rest of you whippersnappers need a history lesson. Pick up Wario and unlock the secrets to how we veterans got sucked into this glorious pastime.
Gamer.nl (Oct 05, 2008)
GamePro (US) (Sep 22, 2008)
Despite its simplistic gameplay, the game is still worth playing, especially for the casual Wii gamer. It's fun, it's simple and it's charming, which pretty much describes most Wii games that hit big with that audience. And like I said, it's perfect for younger gamers so for them, it's an easy recommendation as well.
3D Juegos (Sep 24, 2008)
G4 TV: X-Play (Sep, 2008)
Wario Land: Shake It! has fun written all over it. Everything from the stylized presentation to the tiring yet satisfying controls to the hours of playtime added by hidden treasures and bonus challenges just screams, “Love me!” And despite being relatively short and the shaking can be exhausting, there isn’t much that fans of good old-fashioned Nintendo platforming won’t like here.
GameSpy (Sep 23, 2008)
Even though the game is short by today's single-player standards, Wario Land: Shake It! offer enough good times on the first playthrough (and subsequent re-runs seeking to achieve 100% completion) to make it well recommended. We miss the days of 2D adventuring and there's no doubt that Wario Land: Shake It! manages to recapture some of that magic, albeit for a short amount of time.
Da Gameboyz (Sep, 2008)
At the end of the day fans of 2D platform games and newbies alike should absolutely love Wario Land: Shake It!. The game features some of the nicest hand drawn 2D art I’ve seen in some time, and it follows all the previous games charm along with Wario’s unpleasant disposition. The game may not be online compatible but it has plenty of side missions and secrets to keep one busy throughout. Wario Land: Shake It! is a worthy addition to any Wii fans collection of games, now get shaking!
Cheat Code Central (Sep, 2008)
Even with its minor faults, Wario Land: Shake It! still manages to be a great platforming experience. Shaking your controller gets old very quickly, but the tried and true platforming goodness that is Wario Land, thankfully, remains intact. With all the hidden levels and treasures to be found and each level's missions to complete, Shake It! will also provide players with many hours of enjoyment, even after completing the game. Hopefully, this will be the first of many Wii Wario Land sequels to come.
JeuxActu (Oct 19, 2008)
Good Game (Sep 22, 2008)
Without a Wiimote, this game wouldn’t be what it is – and despite the forced replays, I enjoyed the ride too Bajo, I’m giving it 7.5.
Destructoid (Sep 26, 2008)
I can wholeheartedly recommend the full-price purchase of Wario Land: Shake It to only three groups of people: kids between 5-10 years old, die-hard fans of hand-drawn animation, and people who love "easy but smart" 2D platformers. The game is top-notch in terms of its look, its controls, and its level design. Then why is it that I kept wanting to stop playing it in favor of another go at Tornado Man's Time Attack challenge in Mega Man 9?
Kombo.com (Sep 23, 2008)
Wario Land: Shake It! is a bit of a treat for old school gamers who are nostalgic for the 16-bit days. The title delivers tried-and-true 2D platforming fun. The hand-drawn visuals, level design and play mechanics come together nicely, creating an experience retro gamers and Wario fans will appreciate. Unfortunately, the straightforwardness and lack of freshness make that experience somewhat unimpressive. Further, there's something decidedly handheld or WiiWare-esque about Shake It!. Perhaps it's because the game is fundamentally the same as its predecessors, all born on the handheld platform. All things considered, Wario Land: Shake It! is still an old-school treat. If you're looking for a light, fun 2D side-scroller, here you go.
GameSpot (Sep 24, 2008)
Wario Land: Shake Dimension is a fun action romp (dare we say with an occasional puzzle?) with a decided nod to the past glory of the genre. However, its short, easy-to-finish story mode and occasionally lackluster control system hamper what is an otherwise solid platformer.
Despite being a little on the easy side and not doing anything new for the genre, Wario Land: The Shake Dimension is a worthy addition in any platform game fan’s collection. There’s a variety of levels to play through, and the secondary challenges will keep you occupied for quite a while.
GameZone (Sep 29, 2008)
Nintendo fans will want to play through Wario Land: Shake It! but may not want to own it. The entertainment value is high enough to justify the thorough exploration of each stage. But will this be one of those legendary games that we can’t put down one year from now, five years from now or more? Probably not.
Computer Bild Spiele (Oct 01, 2008)
NGamer (Sep 25, 2008)
A rather limp Wii WarioWare is followed by a rather limp Wii Wario Land. Wazza's never looked better, but has rarely played so sensibly. Where's the attitude, you porker?
Eurogamer.net (UK) (Sep 05, 2008)
Does Nintendo still care about hardcore gamers? This title could be used as evidence for the defence; it's a 2D platformer, with hard bits and boss battles and rewards for extra effort. But, as the prosecution might point out, even here there are indications of an attempt to appeal to a wider market. The result is a game which is good, but not great, and certainly not up to the standard of Nintendo's best 2D platformers. They don't make 'em like they used to, that's for sure. Still - at least they make 'em.
Good Game (Sep 22, 2008)
I was annoyed that it wasn’t in widescreen Jung – surely the Wii can handle this game at 480p widescreen, it makes me think that this game was designed years ago but only put out now. Anyway, borders aside, bosses are okay, and It’s pretty standard platforming all the way through, but it’s suprisingly lots of fun, I’m giving it 7.
Wario Land: Shake It! provides players with an engaging and polished experience -- everything on a technical standpoint is sharp, the presentation is energetic and lively, and the level design/variety is solid...but this entry in the Wario Land series just feels lacking in some extra element inherent in the previous titles -- some spirit seems to have been lost in the translation
Cubed3 (Oct 18, 2008)
Wario Land: The Shake Dimension proves that 2D platform games can definitely hold their own in today’s world, even on powerful home consoles, since this outing is truly a sight to behold. Solid gameplay elements and a few extras lifted from other titles help to make Good Feel’s effort a very enjoyable one, yet a certain Nintendo magic is missing, which prevents this becoming an instant must-have in its genre.
Gameplayer (Sep 04, 2008)
But despite that knowledge, Wario Land: The Shake dimension still exudes a certain endearing charm that makes it quite a playable game. It’s a solid enough production, but whether it’s worth paying full price to experience is something each of you need to decide for yourselves. Speaking personally, we’re inclined to offer you some cheap arse Wario-esque advice, wait until it hits a more discounted price and check it out then. Alternatively, if you are a diehard 2d fan looking to recapture your youth, shake some extra money out of a loved one and score it cheaper that way.
videogamer.com (Sep 24, 2008)
Wii owners expecting a motion controlled tour de force will be quite disappointed. For the most part you play as if the Wii Remote is a standard controller, only using its special abilities when you need to shake something, aim a throw or steer a vehicle. Some clever Wii Remote usage wouldn't have gone amiss and would have given a fairly old school game a modern feel, but its absence doesn't hurt the core gameplay. If you go in expecting a well made, good looking platformer that doesn't do a great deal to move the genre forward, you'll find Wario Land: Shake Dimension to be a highly entertaining six hours of retro fun.
The Video Game Critic (Apr 10, 2011)
In general the gameplay is pleasant and a jazzy musical score gives it a laid-back feel. Warioland Shake It isn't spectacular but it's not a bad way to spend a lazy Saturday afternoon. But seriously Wario, you need to get your [expletive] together!
Wario Land: Shake It! is good, simple fun, but it’s nothing to rush out to the store for. Developer Good-feel did commendable work with the game’s visual aesthetic, but the play comes to feel repetitive long before the closing credits roll. Bosses and hidden levels mix things up a bit, but Shake It! ultimately falls short of its best predecessors in the Wario Land series.
1UP (Sep 23, 2008)
Sure, Shake It!'s gorgeous, but it's destined to go down in the books as the latest of Nintendo's furtive attempts to build on its own history. Like Yoshi's Island DS, it seems to have been crafted by people with the noblest of intentions but no understanding of why the great games they're imitating were great. A pretty face only goes so far when there's no soul beneath the surface, and Shake It! is as hollow as they come.
HonestGamers (Mar 06, 2012)
Unfortunately, Wario Land: Shake It! has too many unusual flaws to remain entertaining for as long as I had expected. While there were some nice surprises and some interesting boss battles, the game is often frustrating even when it’s not being difficult. Later stages add some surprisingly demanding segments to the mix, but I still found my attention wandering quite a bit. In the end, I stopped playing ahead of clearing the fifth continent because I wasn’t having fun anymore. I simply wasn’t up to the task of braving more mediocre stages to rescue a princess in peril because there wasn’t any real incentive. Wario has clearly been a bad influence on me.
