The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble

I particularly loved the wacky humour, from the send up of a popular shoot-em-up game to the hard-to-crack bluxtre nut that won't stand still. Woodruff too, rarely stands still and if you try to do something that isn't going to work he has many ways of ridiculing your efforts. It is these antics that may annoy some, especially if you are reduced to trying everything on everything in sheer frustration. The graphics are a delight and the backgrounds are far from static but are populated with numerous animations. The sound effects also are effective and entertaining contributing greatly to the overall package.

The folks who brought us Goblins are back with a hit - and a strange dude named Schnibble.

Nachdem die Idee mit den Gobliiins, Gobliins und Goblins nicht mehr ganz so erfolgsversprechend war, machten sich die Programmierer des französischen Softwarehauses Coktel Vision auf, in einem anderen Spielgenre den Fuß auf den Boden zu bekommen. Woodruff and the Schnibble of Azimuth, das Ding mit dem unaussprechlichen Namen, wendet sich vor allem an Freunde schräghumoriger Adventures und schlägt damit in die gleiche Kerbe wie Sam & Max oder Day of the Tentacle.

Woodruff est un jeu rigolo comme tout, tant en ce qui concerne le déroulement de l'histoire que les animations, dignes de celles d'un dessin animé. Les spécialistes du genre aventures trouveront peut-être l'interface simplette, mais les autres vont se régaler.

There are not many games comparable to The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble, and it is not too hard to see why: both Woodruff and the world he finds himself in are not only unique, but twisted and charming at the same time. It may be frustrating and cryptic at times, but after you have finally finished it, you may find yourself wanting to play it again, just to see what you may have missed.

Un jeu d’aventure oldie, tendance point’n’click, c’est déjà fun. Mais rajoutez de l’humour encore plus pourri que dans les meilleurs épisodes de Lucas Arts, et vous obtiendrez le scénario et le concept de ce Woodruff et le Shnibble d’Azimuth, un nom qui en dit long sur le contenu. Cette fresque de Sierra reste vraiment, malgré le poids des années, un délire qui n’a pas vieilli.

Dem Charme-Bonus sei Dank ein überwiegend erquickliches Programm aus der Coktel-Küche; recht wohlschmeckend, wenn auch für Adventure-Experten nicht sonderlich nahrhaft.

Even with all the humor, something was missing. It really didn't keep my attention like other Sierra games usually do. Perhaps it was due to the zany storyline. I suggest buying Adventure only if you like games with bizarre twisted humor and a mediocre quest.

Det kommer med största sannorlikhet aldrig att vinna några priser för originell speldesign, men Woodruff är ett småtrevligt äventyr med lagom knepiga problem oc hen humor som lockar till skratt många gånger.
