Think of Bug! as the Happy Days of PC gaming. It's not very challenging intellectually and it doesn't offer a single splatter of gratuitous violence, unless you count spewing a colorful spitwad at an attacking arachnid. It's just good, clean fun.

Sega made a fantastic debut in the PC market with Virtua Fighter, and with Daytona, Virtua Cop and Panzer Dragoon all due out before Christmas, they have at least three more sure-fire hits this year. Bug!, on the other hand, is more of an acquired taste - one which die-hard platform gamers will enjoy, and one which might convert a few more, but one many will find disappointing.

In conclusion, Bug! is a visually stunning game that, despite its revolutionary look, fails to deliver anything new to a tired genre. While certainly not a bad game, its lack of ingenuity will taint its chances of appealing to existing platform game fans - and of creating new ones.
