    PARAMOUNT HOME VIDEO AND VIACOM NEW MEDIA TEAM UP
    TO PROMOTE "CONGO" VIDEO AND CD-ROM RELEASES

    Hollywood, CA and New York, N.Y., October 16, 1995 -- Paramount Home Video and sister company Viacom New Media announce a special cross promotion to support both the videocassette release of "CONGO" and the CD-ROM based on the blockbuster hit film. Paramount Pictures' smash action-adventure "CONGO," a production of The Kennedy/Marshall Company, garnered over $80 million at the domestic box office during summer `95. The upcoming CD-ROM, "CONGO: The Movie - Descent Into Zinj," takes players on an edge-of-their-seat journey, weaving together characters and plot lines from the film with mind-bending puzzles and dazzling multi-media effects. Making the announcement were Jack Kanne, executive vice president, sales and marketing, for Paramount Home Video, and Roberta Jacobs, senior vice president, sales and marketing, for Viacom New Media.

    "CONGO" will be released on videocassette on November 21, and will be priced for rental. The CD-ROM game, "CONGO: The Movie - Descent Into Zinj," will be released in mid-November.

    "We're all excited about working with our sister company to make `CONGO' as huge a hit on video and CD-ROM as it was in movie theaters this past summer," said Mr. Kanne.

    "Our `CONGO' cross-promotion is an outstanding example of how two divisions within Viacom can work together to create a `win/win' campaign," said Ms. Jacobs.

    Key elements of the cross-promotion are:

    a 30-second spot promoting the CD-ROM will appear on the front of all "CONGO" videocassettes;

    information about the video release will be included on Viacom New Media's poster for the CD-ROM, and in their print ads in such publications as Electronic Entertainment, Premiere, Computer Gaming World and Home PC;

    a 30-second trailer promoting the "CONGO" videocassette will appear on Viacom New Media's new CD-ROM game, "CONGO: The Movie - Descent Into Zinj";

    a 3" x 5" insert announcing the film's release on videocassette will be packaged in the CD-ROM.

    Based on Michael Crichton's ("Jurassic Park") best-seller of the same name, "CONGO" stars Laura Linney, Dylan Walsh, Ernie Hudson, Grant Heslov, Joe Don Baker, and Tim Curry. It was directed by Frank Marshall ("Arachnaphobia," "Alive") from a screenplay by John Patrick Shanley (Academy Award® winner for "Moonstruck"). The film was produced by Kathleen Kennedy ("Jurassic Park," "E.T. The Extraterrestrial") and Sam Mercer (upcoming, "The Relic") and executive produced by Frank Yablans.

    "CONGO: The Movie - Descent Into Zinj" was developed by Illumina Productions in collaboration with Viacom New Media and The Kennedy/Marshall Company.
