Sonny Bonds, the protagonist of the original Police Quest series, appears in this game as one of the selectable officers you can assign to your SWAT squad.

One of the key characters in the game is the corrupt, arrogant and pompous mayor of the city where the game takes place (LA). The designer of the game, Chief Daryl F. Gates, was forced to leave his post of LAPD chief after rows and clashes with the Mayor of Los Angeles at the time of the infamous riots. Of course, it's probably just an innocent coincidence. :)
