Summary
The classic that started it all.
The Good
The graphics aren't anything to shout home about, but they do suit the games style of play. Gamers who haven't played this before shouldn't take long to come to grips with the user interface, although the budget may come under fire from those who don't wish to understand it!!
The best part of SimCity (and any SimCity version for that matter) is the many ways that you can destory your city. From your usual Earthquakes and Fires, to your over-the-top alien attacks (of course, you can turn them off, if you wish, but who would do that??)
The Bad
Compared to the latest version of SimCity (3000, for those who don't know), the graphics are outdated. The sound, meanwhile, has its up and downs (you'll enjoy them for the first few minutes, but after that, it's better to turn them off).
And gamers who just wish to play away will get annoyed with the budget system, although you really shouldn't play the game without some knowledge of how this system works.
The Bottom Line
Overall, a classic game that continues to roam around to this day. Although the graphics are outdated compared to the 3D blockbusters that fill our P3's , they are still easy to work with, and fun to watch.
I recommend only to those who wish to own the entire sim collection, or who still own an old 486 or Pentium 90 (like me!!).
But for those who want more in the way of graphics and sound, SimCity 3000 may answer your prayers.
