SimTower was one of a scant few commercial games to use WinG, a game library developed by Microsoft during the brief period between the Windows game SDK and DirectX.
The Japanese company that made this game made a sequal "Yoot Tower." It was distributed in the United States, but by a company other than Maxis.
This game was designed by Openbook Ltd in Japan and was originally called "Tower". Maxis has distribution rights for this game worldwide except Japan.
