DescriptionThis release combines the original game Anno 1602: Creation of a New World and its German-only add-on Anno 1602: Erschaffung einer neuen Welt - Neue Inseln, Neue Abenteuer which also adds a few new missions. It was the first US release of the game.
There are 15 scenarios in total (6 in the European release, and an added 9 for the US version), each with different tasks to perform to build up your nation, and crush your opponents. Free play is more like a SimCity game, where you go about building your land as much, and as long as you want. Finally, multiplayer options allows you to fight it out with your pals.
You are the king of an as yet unnamed European nation from 1602 A.D. Your job is to build up the colony and turn your small nation into a trading powerhouse. You have to find an isle and begin to build up your empire, and eventually fight against pirates and your competitors.
You'll have to start small and build up the colony, growing food and water supplies for your people. From there you must build up the industry, create trade agreements with neighbours, and create armies (just in case an agreement falls through).
There are over 90 buildings, 30 different jobs and more than 300 different isles. For beginners there's a tutorial, and for more advanced players are different scenarios available. The game supports resolutions up to 1024 x 768.

0 A.DThe independent freeware title 0 A.D was inspired by 1602 A.D.
ScreensaverThere is a screensaver that will activate if you leave the game inactive for too long. It shows a beach with a hammock and the tide coming in. Also the sound of the tide is in the background. It was bug-pestered: the game would continue to run even when the screensaver was active - you would go to dinner, thinking everything was fine, coming back, moving the mouse and - getting the "game over" video. All in all, it really took some patches to make this game work properly. Being able to build on water was only one thing...
