3-D Ultra Pinball: Creep Night

It should be clear at this point that playing this game is a real thrill, and even those who do not generally get hooked on pinball will love its playful sense of fun. However, for those traditional pinball aficionados who want to play only classic pinball -- the kind that resembles closely the real arcade machines -- this is not the best choice: LittleWing's Crystal Caliburn and Cinematronics' Full Tilt Pinball still set the standard in this regard, and have much more responsive ball movement and more realistic physics embedded than does Creep Night. Classic pinball, though, just does not provide the kind of boisterous intensity that Sierra has thankfully unleashed on the computer gaming community.

Für Puristen, die eine scrollende Pinball-Simulation ohne modischen Schnickschnack wollen, ist der Gruselflipper nichts. Alle anderen sollten sich dieses spaßige Kugelgrab nicht entgehen lassen.

Even so, the good points of Creep Night outweigh the bad. It chock-full of ramps, specials, bonus levels, and that elusive hidden table. The wonderful animations, sound, and the focus on making a fun game and not an exact copy of a real pinball table push this one ahead of the pack.

This is one of the most excellent pinball games I've ever played! Up to four players (taking turns of course) can get in on the action, and even playing alone is a lot of fun. Creepnight makes a great family game. If you've been looking for a new game to sit down and play with the kids (or with your parents, if you ARE a kid), it's an excellent choice.

Gäbe es einen Innovations-Award für Flipperspiele, so hätte ihn Sierra mit Sicherheit verdient. Leider haben wir keinen. Also muß sich das Programm an allgemeinen Maßstäben messen lassen - und da sieht die Sache nicht so rosig aus. Neben tollen Ideen beim Table-Design und witzigen Cartoon-Einlagen müssen auch die "Basics" (einwandfreie Ballphysik und flüssige Kugelbewegung) stimmen. Hier muß Sierra bis zur nächsten Ultra-Folge noch eifrig feilen.
