Ndoors Interactive press release (April 2009):

NDOORS Unveils New Titan Server for Atlantica Online Enabling Cross-Server PvP Battles

NDOORS Interactive, creator of the strategic turn-based MMORPG Atlantica Online, today announced that the Titan Server, Atlantica’s first cross-server PvP battle area, is now open along with a few other updates. The independent game server will enable interaction between all players from all Atlantica servers, creating the first true test of who is the best of the best. Players can now board a designated Titan ship and journey to and from the Titan Server to access new content, chat with other players, and compete against each other in massive PvP tournaments.

Later this year, the Titan cross-server will feature an entirely new continent, unlike any current game location, where players will have the chance to compete against each other for control over regions in this new and unexplored territory. Before the Titan Server, players could only communicate with users on their same server, but more updates coming later this year will allow Atlantians to interact regardless of their server, enabling players to meet more friends (and enemies) in Atlantica Online.

“The developers wanted to create an all-inclusive server that would give users from the separate servers a chance to finally meet and battle against one another, to determine who the best of the best really is,” said Peter Kang, NDOORS Interactive, CEO. “The Titan Server encourages additional community interaction and player participation, and will continue to do so as new features are added in the future.”

Additionally, the Titan Server will offer a “Grand Championship Tournament” where players can battle it out for glorious rewards, beginning each Sunday at 3am and 3pm PDT. Players will earn Gold Coins just for participating – more if they are the winner of the first battle, and participants who win more than one battle will receive EXP for their main character and mercenaries. The top 30 players will receive 4 Platinum Coins, Observation Rewards and 200 Fame/Battle points, but the overall winner of this tournament will reign supreme, receiving the Barbarian Lord’s Black Tiger, Platinum Coins, Observation Rewards and 1,000 Fame/Battle Points. The Grand Championship Tournament winners will be the very best of the best, earning rewards and bragging rights galore.

Upon traveling to the Titan Server, initials of the players’ original server will be added to their character names to prevent any conflicts. Currently, only basic user information will be copied over to the Titan Server, but in the coming updates all player details, including communities, friends and guild members will be available on the Titan Server. Cross-server trade, chat and whisper features will also be implemented in the near future.

Recognized as one of the best MMORPGs of 2008, Atlantica Online has received critical acclaim for its quality, accessibility, and entertainment value. The Titan Server is only one of many exciting content updates scheduled for Atlantica on April 21, 2009. With new massive features already in development, the implementation of the Titan Server promises exciting things to the world of Atlantis. Preparation for in-game events is already underway, so players should check back often to participate in the cross-server excitement.

Ndoors Interactive press release (February 19, 2009):

Atlantica Online Rolls Out Major Update

    EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - Feb. 19, 2009
NDOORS Interactive, creators of the strategic turn-based MMORPG, Atlantica Online, today released a major update for the award-winning title. The update adds several new features, including two new main character classes – Musician and Maniac. These new features and classes will enhance the player’s journey through time and history in their quest to find the lost land of Atlantis.

The majority of the new content will be accessible to all players immediately, while some of the new features will only be available to players who have reached level 100.

    The major content updates include:

    Two New Main Character Classes
Head out into the world with the new classes and get your hands on some unusual gear: a guitar or a power saw. The Musician wields a guitar, which can be selected by any player, new or ongoing. Specializing in long-range combat, the Musician attacks by playing music that strikes two enemies in a line. Its magic attack, the Ravaging Melody, depletes enemies’ attack power, defense, and health, and aids your mercenaries’ attacks. When they attack, they utilize moves that would make Angus Young envious.
The second new class is the Maniac, and he/she brandishes a power saw. Only players at level 100 can create a main character using the power saw, although that character will have to start anew at level 1. The Maniac’s attack hits all enemies in a row, and has a magic cast called Storm Blast.

    New Mercenary
The Elementalist is a new, Class B magic mercenary that can be recruited in North America after you reach level 100. When upgraded, the Elementalist becomes the legendary Native American, Pocahontas.

    New Dungeons
Now offering even more locations, Atlantica boasts a handful of new dungeons including Alcatraz Prison, which can only be accessed by nations. Additionally, the Valley of Oblivion, also in North America, can only be accessed by guilds, and is the route players must take to acquire the Elementalist. There are also new side quest dungeons based in China.

    Celebrate Your Character’s Individuality
Not only will your character now have three new options for hairstyles (the long wave, the afro, and the rasta), your main character will now receive a present on his or her in-game birthday. To read the complete list of the new updates for Atlantica Online, please visit www.playatlantica.com.

Ndoors Interactive press release (January 13, 2009):

Atlantica Online Honored as One of the Year's Best MMORPGs

    EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - Jan. 13, 2009
NDOORS Interactive, creators of the strategic turn-based MMORPG, Atlantica Online, is proud to announce that Atlantica has been recognized as one of the best MMORPGs of 2008. Atlantica Online is a game that sends players on a journey around the globe, and this year the title made significant progress in attracting a large and diverse user base in North America while receiving critical acclaim for its quality, accessibility, and entertainment value.

The list of honors for Atlantica recently expanded to include the title of “Best Game” at the Korea Game Awards, hosted by the Game Industries Association on Dec. 16. Kim Tae Gon, the game’s head producer, received commendation as an “Excellent Developer” at the KGA for his work on Atlantica. These awards follow the Golden Plume trophy that Atlantica took home for “Best Foreign Online Game” at the ChinaJoy Conference in November 2008.

Despite launching in the fourth quarter of 2008, Atlantica Online quickly made up for lost time by being nominated as one of the “Best New Games of 2008” by the editors at the genre leading website MMORPG.com, visited by over 1 million MMO-playing readers every month.

Atlantica Online’s free-to-play business model was one of the reasons that popular MMO site Ten Ton Hammer bestowed the game with the title of “Best Free-to-Play Game of 2008.” Ten Ton Hammer also cited the fact that Atlantica was “smoother and more fun than anything I had played in a long time,” in their decision to give the game a nearly perfect review score of “4.5/5 Hammers.” With such praise as “easily the best [free-to-play] game I have played and … more fun than many subscription games I have tried” from Ten Ton Hammer, it is no wonder that the game has found success among a surprisingly diverse crowd of players.

One of the winners of Atlantica’s recent “No Atlantian Left Behind” contest was 73-year-old Mary Martinez, a grandmother from Quitman, Texas. After her grandson, an avid player himself, introduced Mary to the game, she became hooked on the social connectivity that Atlantica Online offers her. “I don’t get out and around like I used to, so playing games where you interact with others is a way for me to have a more social life,” said Martinez. Mary’s dedication to the game was rewarded when she became one of the winners of the contest, taking home a new Nintendo Wii.

In 2009 Atlantica Online will continue to expand the variety of locations that the game’s players can explore while maintaining the same level of detail and quality that has proven successful so far. “With the saturation of new titles coming online in the MMO market each year, it is truly an accomplishment for Atlantica to have gained steam so quickly,” said Peter Kang, NDOORS Interactive, CEO. “The fans and critics have spoken loudly and approvingly of Atlantica and that provides us with extra motivation to increase and improve the quality and entertainment value of the product we offer this year.”

Ndoors Interactive press release (December 17, 2008):

Atlantica Opens Up The new world

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. — Dec. 17, 2008 — The world of Atlantica Online just got bigger. The strategic, turn-based MMORPG that sends players on a journey around the globe opened up the Western Hemisphere to be explored.

NDOORS Interactive has expanded the game with its first major content upgrade, dubbed the “Next Frontier.” For the past month since the game launched, Atlantica adventurers have battled and explored some of the ancient civilizations of the Eastern Hemisphere. Now they will cross the oceans into the Americas, where they will encounter monsters drawn from the myths and legends of the American Old West and Aztecs. In addition to new geographic regions being added, new mercenaries will be made available. The level cap has also been increased from 100 to 120.

“The world of Atlantica is vast and open to all sorts of possibilities,” said Peter Kang, CEO, NDOORS Interactive. “This is just the first of what we envision to being many significant content additions for the game. There is still much more of Atlantica’s domain to open up, like South America and Oceania, and still many more civilizations and legends that we will draw on to serve as the backdrop for future quests and characters.”

North America is where the bulk of the new areas will be found. In Detroit, players will face monsters that will try to rock their world. Then in Dallas they will come across a saloon where players can expect, like any good Western, a barroom brawl. A new guild dungeon will be found on Alcatraz Island in the San Francisco Bay. There will also be several new dungeons added to existing regions, such as China.

The first two B Class mercenaries will be introduced. These more powerful and difficult to acquire mercenaries are the Spartan and the Sailor. This new class will keep with the theme of mercenary upgrades being based on actual figures from human history. The Spartan can be upgraded to Leonidas, the legendary king who led the Spartans at the Battle of Thermopylae. The Sailor can ultimately become Anne Bonny, the infamous female pirate. To obtain the Sailor mercenary, players will travel to the Caribbean and complete quests, one of which will require them to fight for their lives against Davy Jones.

New content has also been added as part of a Christmas event. For a limited time, players can go on a special quest that will take them to Santa’s Villa. Good old St. Nick isn’t so jolly in this villa, however, forcing players to battle some nasty holiday creatures. By completing this quest, players can obtain items like a Santa’s hat and an antler’s hat that comes with a nose that will light them through dark situations, just like Rudolph. Other items that will be made available through this event are products found in the Item Mall.

Ndoors Interactive press release (November 18, 2008):

Atlantica Online Wins a Top Award at ChinaJoy Debut

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – Nov. 18, 2008 – Atlantica Online, the new strategic turn-based MMORPG, won a Golden Plume Award for Best Foreign Online Game. The prestigious prize was bestowed upon the best games in China by the China Digital Entertainment Expo and Conference (ChinaJoy) on Nov. 4 in Beijing.

Atlantica’s victory comes as the game is preparing to enter beta testing in China. Atlantica developer NDOORS Inc. signed a publishing deal with Chinese gaming leader The9, which publishes World of Warcraft in China, last April. Beta on the Chinese edition of Atlantica is expected to begin in early 2009.

“Atlantica is The9’s most anticipated title,” said Jun Zhu, CEO, The9. “The title has a great premise with its combination of reality and fantasy and the legend of Atlantis. Atlantica will make a big impact in China’s online game market, especially with its exciting turn-based battle system.”

Atlantica has already made an impression on the Chinese, who are tapping into the Atlantica action on the Korea- and U.S.-based game servers.

“It’s an honor to be awarded the prestigious Golden Plume, especially considering Atlantica has yet to launch in China,” said Cho Seong Won, CEO, NDOORS Inc., which is based in South Korea. “We can’t wait to finish the localization process and prepare new content for gamers in China. We plan on living up to the expectations, which have just been set higher by this honor.”

Atlantica has been winning other accolades in addition to the Golden Plume. In Japan, where it is being published by Nexon Japan and is in open beta, Atlantica has hit number one in a most popular games list at 4gamer.net, one of Japan’s most influential webzines. In North America, Atlantica has reached number one on MMORPG.com’s “Most Popular” list and has been the top free-to-play game for three straight months at TenTonHammer.com.

With its licensing deal with Taiwan’s leading publisher Gamania, Atlantica will be reaching four of the major gaming markets in the world.

Atlantica Online is a strategic, turn-based RPG that merges traditional RPG gameplay and heavy strategic gameplay elements with a mercenary and nation management system. The turn-based combat gives players the chance to control a party of up to nine characters. In the mercenary system, players can recruit and develop mercenaries of different classes for their combat squad. The nation management system allows guilds to plan the conquest of cities and even whole nations.

Ndoors Interactive press release (October 30, 2008):

Atlantica Online brings Strategic, Turn-based RPG Gameplay back to the MMO World

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. – Oct. 30, 2008 – NDOORS Interactive’s free-to-play MMO has launched. Atlantica Online brings classic turn-based RPG combat combined with deep strategic gameplay to the online multiplayer world.

Atlantica Online’s combat system draws inspiration from traditional RPG gameplay and merges it with heavy strategic game elements with the mercenary and nation management systems to set it apart in the MMO world.

The turn-based combat gives players the chance to plan complex battle strategies as they control a party of up to 9 characters. Players can also form groups with two other players for a total of 27 characters in battle. Pre-battle planning will also be essential to success. Players must pick the optimal combination of party members called mercenaries to bring into a fight. This allows gamers to craft a different combat set-up for each battle and take advantage of hundreds of possible skill combinations.

With the mercenary system, players will recruit and develop mercenaries of different classes for their combat squad. Players must plan how to best spend their limited resources to obtain the optimal mix for their play style. They will be faced with decisions like would it be better to recruit a new healer, an additional ranged DPS or should they upgrade the armor for their existing front line tanks. Players will also need to lay long-term development plans to maximize the skill combinations of multiple characters as they level.

The nation management system allows guilds to plan the conquest of cities and even whole nations. More complex than simply engaging in PvP combat, guilds must oversee complex economies to keep their conquests strong. While managing a town, they plan everything from culture, commerce and industry, even down to the placement of buildings for the maximum output. Successful rulers are rewarded with rare items.

Along with Atlantica’s official launch, the game’s item mall has opened. The item mall contains many different power-ups, licenses and scrolls to aid players in their journey to Atlantis. Players can also take advantage of deals to get these items at a discounted rate. Items range from $5-$20, with 100 Gcoins equaling $1. Purchased items are transferred directly into a player’s accounts

“With Atlantica’s official debut into the MMO space, we’re ready to turn some heads,” said Peter Kang, CEO of NDOORS Interactive. “We’re very confident the market is ready to embrace strategic, turn-based gameplay.”

NDOORS is also currently running a promotion that gives players multiple chances to win thousands in cash and prizes by participating in the game’s PvP area called the Free Leagues. NDOORS is also hosting a satisfaction guarantee program. Putting their money where their mouth is, NDOORS will give $20 to qualified players who no longer want to play the game, Players have until Nov. 30 to win any of the bonuses or apply for the satisfaction guarantee program.

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. - Oct. 21, 2008 - Atlantica Online developer NDOORS has signed a publishing deal with Taiwan’s leading publisher, Gamania.

With its strategic, turn-based gameplay and real-world backdrop, Atlantica has become one of the top MMORPGs in Korea. The title is enjoyed by more than one million gamers there.

Gamania CEO Albert Ryu is confident that Atlantica will have the same effect on those in Taiwan.

“Gamers will feel a rush of excitement playing Atlantica with its breathtaking turn-based battles,” said Ryu. “There’s something familiar about the action that triggers something in the brain, but also presents strategic battles in a new and fresh way.”

“We are excited to bring Atlantica to Taiwan through Gamania,” said Cho Seong Won, CEO, NDOORS Corp. “With its years of service know-how and experience, and a track record of numerous successes. We look forward to working closely with Gamania to do the same with Atlantica.”

Atlantica launched last January in Korea, and signed a publishing deal with leading Chinese publisher, The9 in April. That was followed by its July launch in North America through NDOORS Interactive Inc. and in Japan through Nexon Japan. Now with Gamania, Atlantica will be leaving its mark in four of the major gaming markets.

Ndoors Interactive press release (September 03, 2008):

Ndoors Signs Publisher Deal with Nexon for Japan

Sept. 3, 2008 —NDOORS, the company behind Atlantica Online, has signed a publishing agreement with Nexon Japan that will bring the strategic turn-based MMORPG to Japanese online gamers.

Nexon Japan is one of the leading game publishers in Japan. The company operates a game portal that provides online games to 3.9 million registered users in 60 countries throughout Asia, North America and Europe.

“We are fortunate and thrilled that Atlantica’s unique action and fun can be shared and enjoyed by many players throughout the world,” said Cho Sung Won, NDOORS, CEO. “NDOORS will make a great effort to attract Japanese players to the world of Atlantica through a close and cooperative relationship with Nexon Japan.”

In Atlantica, players must travel the world to find the clues that will lead them to the legendary lost civilization of Atlantis. They will stop in locales like Japan, Egypt, Romania and the United States to battle monsters taken from myth and folklore. It began in Korea, with Atlantica’s commercial launch in January 2008. Then in April, NDOORS’ plans to make the game global made its first step through an agreement with The9, the largest game publisher in China. Through NDOORS Interactive, NDOORS’ U.S.-based subsidiary, Atlantica was introduced to North and South American players, as well as Europeans, in July 2008. The deal with Nexon Japan now makes Atlantica accessible in most major markets.

Atlantica is another success in the game-developing career of Kim Tae Gon, Atlantica’s producer. Kim is the developer behind successful games like Seven Years War, Gersang and Luminary: Rise of the Goonzu.

“The expectations were high for Atlantica, and Kim delivered by creating a game with unique and dynamic action, realized through its turn-based system — a concept that has often been overlooked in the gaming industry,” said Cho. “Now, Atlantica has more than one million players throughout the world enjoying its exciting gameplay.”

Ndoors Interactive press release (June 18, 2008):

Ndoors Brings The Legend of Ancient Atlantis to Life in New Turn-Based, Strategy MMO

EL SEGUNDO, Calif. -- June 18, 2008 – Atlantica brings back classic turn-based gameplay and marries it to a deep strategic framework that encompasses combat, character/party development and city/country management. NDOORS, developer and publisher of massively multiplayer online games (MMOGs), will launch the Atlantica closed beta in July.

NDOORS designed Atlantica’s combat, mercenary and city/country management systems to set it apart from the rest of the MMO market.

The turn-based combat system offers players the chance to strategically plan every move of the nine characters in their group. Players can form teams of three to bring 27 controllable characters into combat. Or for simple fights, players can preset each character/mercenary’s skill set and let the auto-battle system resolve the fight.

The mercenary system gives players the chance to manage multiple characters’ development simultaneously. In addition to their main character, players can hire eight mercenaries each with a different class and skills. They can be obtained as an infant and raised, married to other mercenaries and even have their own children. Mercenaries’ stats will decline as they age, necessitating the need to constantly update and upkeep the mercenary roster.

The city/country management system adds a layer of strategic play beyond typical party level interaction. Guilds can establish control of cities and go to war with each other. They will need to plan everything from culture, commerce and industry, even down to the placement of buildings for the maximum output. Groups of guilds can even band together to take control of countries. Controlling cities and countries allows them to obtain rare items and mercenaries.

“We really strived to create a game that gave players something new,” said Peter Kang, CEO of NDOORS Interactive. “Atlantica was designed to bring the gameplay that RPG and strategy fans love the most to the MMO world. Atlantica takes smarts, requiring planning and strategy at every step.”

Players take on the quest to destroy the Oriharukon energy, a powerful sensor from Atlantis that is poisoning the world. This journey will take players around the globe, including the ancient civilizations of Hanyang (Korea), Indus Valley (India and Pakistan), Mesopotamia (Iraq, Syria and Turkey) and Egypt, as well as North America and legendary locales such as the Pyramids and Angkor Wat.
