Description
Baron Wittard is a point & click adventure with
Myst like gameplay. As a press photographer the player is assigned to a job at a mysterious building called Wittard's Utopia where people have been disappearing lately. Its building process was frozen near completion due to mysterious incidents, leaving the apartment complex abandoned.
The story evolves into a plot involving Norse mythology putting the player at the verge of Ragnarök, the twilight of the gods. To encounter the evil creature Fenrir the player needs to collect ten rune-stones hidden in Utopia and transform them into energy by a specific device for each one. The transformer devices are also hidden and distributed all over the place and protected by riddles. Same applies for most of the rune-stones, though some are simply hidden. The player is assisted by an amulet, through which Wittard can talk to the player from another dimension.
The game is presented with real-time 3D graphics and features 360 degree panoramic views in the 1st-person perspective, though the player has to proceed from viewpoint to viewpoint by following predefined directions, without the possibility of moving freely. The puzzles are predominantly machine-based, or presented in a board-game's manner. The very few item-combination puzzles are restricted to putting rune-stones into transformers, applying Wittard's amulet and using a camera on one occasion.
