"Battlefield 1942" inicialmente pode não parecer um jogo para qualquer um. Mas quando você conseguir reproduzir o ambiente certo com as pessoas certas, seja via Internet ou em uma LAN House, poderá viver com muita emoção todos os horrores da guerra.

Battlefield 1942 is certainly the most action packed WWII game out today, and is a paradise for vehicle fanatics. It's so nice to find a game where all those cool vehicles are used for something besides scenery. The game earns 5 GiN Gems for a fantastic multiplayer experience.

Battlefield 1942 is easily the best World War 2 game out there. Running through the streets or up the beaches with planes overhead and tanks rumbling past, it feels like you're in Band of Brothers or Saving Private Ryan. It may not be as cinematic or as realistic as the competition, but it sure is fun. With stunning visuals, incredible gameplay and sheer addictiveness, it's a must have for any FPS junkie. This certainly is PC gaming's finest hour.

Battlefield 1942 is one of the most complete and exciting games ever developed for the PC. A game (once loaded) that wastes no time putting you into the thick of the battle. A game that permits the user a tremendous amount of play flexibility in the specialist options, the respawn choices, and the ability to easily operate 34 different military vehicles — land, sea and air. A game with unscripted A.I. Battlefield 1942 borrows the best aspects of games such as Medal of Honor and Operation Flashpoint and leaves behind most of their flaws. This is historical military gaming in the FPS genre at its finest.

Caution: if you have a pressing work schedule; if you have a family or spouse who expects attention; if you are studying and value a good GPA; do not buy Battlefield 1942. I repeat; if you are not prepared to surrender large, disproportionate chunks of your time plus a shameful amount of your waking thoughts (and possibly dreams) to playing this game, steer clear. But if you're audacious and you have the time, you won't find a better game this year. Period.

BATTLEFIELD 1942 to nie gra w standardowym znaczeniu tego słowa, a może jest to właśnie jedna z niewielu „prawdziwych gier”. Niesie ze sobą możliwości o jakich do tej pory można było marzyć i z radością przyznałbym, że jest najlepszym symulatorem wojennym gdyby nie fakt, że twórcy właściwie zupełnie pozostawili gracza samemu sobie, licząc widocznie, że nie uda mu się znudzić całym tym przepychem. Mimo to BATTLEFIELD 1942 polecam każdemu, kto jest choć odrobinkę ciekaw jak wygląda bitwa z perspektywy zwykłego żołnierza.

Battlefield really takes you into WW2, much like Medal of Honor, only this time you can choose your role, hide in buildings, fight it out, drive ships, pilot planes, dive in a submarine, blow things up with a tank, race across land with a jeep, swim, snipe, heal, steal enemy vehicles, capture flags, and generally kick some enemy ass. A hit for any multiplayer gaming fanatic.

Battlefield: 1942 is worth buying a cable modem for. It's just that good. I have to go all the way back to the original X-Com to think of a game that has so obsessed me. I don't think of myself as a gusher, but Battlefield: 1942 practically forced me to recommend it to all my friends at work, even the ones who don't have computers and couldn't care less about gaming. Sometimes games are more than the sum of their parts, but in BF1942's case, the game's parts are each of such distinct quality that the gestalt couldn't be anything less than great. That last sentence makes me think my reserve of compliments is just about dried up, so I'll leave you with a plea to try the demo if you are in any way intrigued by the game's concept. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have a little unfinished business in Berlin....

These things aside, it's very difficult to find a game like this that aims high and hits the mark. When you take a step back and look at all the activity going on around the board, it's astounding. Add to that the excellent interface and the accurate recreation of every single unit and battle location, and you've got yourself the next big thing in multiplayer war-gaming. Battlefield est un jeu à part dans l'univers des shoots online. Ni complètement bourrin, ni super tactique, le titre offre tout de même un côté stratégique stimulant qui forcera la coopération entre les joueurs. Avec son background réaliste et son ambiance convaincante, le titre d'EA se paie en plus le luxe d'être immersif. Quant à l'utilisation des véhicules, elle est simplement géniale. Je répète : une référence.

Even though the game has a few technical issues that still haven't been worked out (like frame rate jitters, netcode weirdness, and the occasional sound issue), BF1942 is still largely great fun. The single player mode was only tossed in for the purposes of light practice, and while it gets boring quickly, it's better to have it there and crappy rather than not at all. Battlefield 1942 is a great game when played online, and definitely one I plan on playing regularly for at least the next couple of months.

Singleplayer mode is a little bit silly. The computer will generate up to 64 players on the one map, but the game's artificialintelligence engine leaves a lot to be desired. BF1942 allows online servers of up to 64 players, but I suspect this number of players will be limited to LAN parties. The demands on bandwidth are just too great for the Internet. Be warned, too, that this game will chew through plenty of bandwidth at your end. Anyone playing the beta of BF1942 would have noticed a number of bugs in the graphics sprites. Some of these have crept through into the full release and provide the only real drawback. Grab the 15MB version 1.1 retail patch before jumping online.

I found the single player boring, but necessary to learn. The graphics were awesome and life like. I compared it to Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, only with more action. I found the game entertaining and fun except on the multi-player you have to deal with extremely bad language and names from some of the players. I just don?t read. I am an admin for a server on Medal of Honor: Allied Assault and we use a word filter and have the ability to kick offensive players. Maybe the same can be done for Battlefield if a server chooses to do so.

AS A GAME WRITER, it would be easy for me to fill a few pages with flowery prose raving endlessly about Battlefield: 1942. And, to some extent, I'm going to do just that. But let's be honest: there's only so much stock you can put in one person's opinion... right?

Ich bin verhext – von einem Spiel. In dem kann man auf einem riesigen Flugzeugträger in einen Bomber klettern und damit den Feind aus der Luft beharken. Später springe ich mit dem Fallschirm ab, hüpfe am Boden dann in einen Jeep, heize in die gegnerische Basis und vermine dort die Startbahn. Oder aber man bleibt auf dem Flugzeugträger und setzt sich hinter eine der mächtigen Bordkanonen. Battlefield 1942 ist schon jetzt für mich das Multiplayer-Spiel des Jahres.

Met afstand het beste multiplayer actiespel op de markt! Ga je enkel voor de singleplayer, dan moet je er de tekortkomingen bijnemen...

Battlefield 1942 isn't so much about 1942 as it is about the major battles of WWII in and around those years. The defense of Berlin, for example, is clearly a 1945 battle but that attitude represents Digital Illusion's approach to its WWII material. It pillages and plunders through the history books for what works and throws out what's inconvenient. German and Japanese forces are pitched against American, Russian and British ones in theaters across the world. What Digital Illusions does for convenience doesn't sap strength from Battlefield 1942. Rather, it strengthens it, by making the game more playable and that becomes the predominant theme for the rest of the game.

Battlefield 1942 is easily the best online game to date. Sporting 40 weapons and 35 vehicles on servers that reach up to 64 players of pure chaos, there is no lack of excitement. Excellent controls, decent visuals and sounds add to the mix. Apart from the rare dial-up player and the steep system requirements, Battlefield 1942 is a near flawless game. If you can play it, get it, drop everything else. Consoles are dead. Battlefield 1942 is a contender for Game of the Year.

When Digital Illusions' Battlefield 1942 was first announced, it looked pretty much like just another in a seemingly endless supply of World War II-based games. But thanks to leaked and official demos, Battlefield 1942 soon became one of the most highly anticipated games of the year. That's hardly surprising, given its ambitious design. Here's a game where dozens of players can fight online together on expansive World War II-inspired battlefields while controlling planes, tanks, and even aircraft carriers with ease. Other than some frustrating technical problems and bugs that should have been fixed before the game shipped, Battlefield 1942 is one of those games that actually lives up to most of the hype surrounding it.

The second-best WWII game this year. And this year's other multiplayer game to boot.

Als je een 1000 Mhz processor en een GeForce 2 hebt, en je bent de fragfeesten van Quake en Unreal zat, dan is dit een heftige, zware aanrader. De game loopt overigens ook op een iets tragere bak, maar dan uiteraard minder vlekkeloos.

All things considered, Battlefield 1942 is undoubtedly one of the hottest first person shooters you can find on shelves this season. It delivers an innovative multiplayer experience that is jam-packed with all kinds of weapons and vehicles, diverse maps and non-stop action. BF1942 not only has lots of strong points, but also lacks big weak points. As long as you have a decent system and don't care too much about the below average single-player mode, there is absolutely no excuse for you not to pick up a copy of BF1942. The multiplayer experience delivered by this game is truly valuable and worth any gamer's time.

Battlefield 1942 is great on so many levels. If the developers had spent more time on the AI, they could have actually made it a very good action-sim for all the vehicles that appear in the game. We’re glad they didn’t, since there is no AI in the world as creative, competitive, challenging and rewarding to beat as another player. No matter how good or bad your team, Battlefield 1942 manages to satisfy.

Zwei Mannschaften, Achsenmächte und Alliierte, stehen sich auf 16 geschichtsträchtigen Schlachtfeldern des Zweiten Weltkriegs gegenüber, vom ägyptischen El Alamein über den Guadalcanal im Pazifik bis nach Berlin. Dort toben sich bis zu 64 Freizeitsoldaten entweder in Deathmatches oder Capture-the-Flag-Partien aus oder stürzen sich in einen virtuellen Eroberungsfeldzug.

Battlefield ? Available ? OMG ! These were my first 3 words when I heard Battlefield 1942 was actually available. 10 minutes, an overrun granny and a pushed away kid later I had it in my possession, an evil Mr. Burns grin while uttering the word *excellent* was the only thing I could express at that moment.

Als je van Wolfenstein, Counterstrike of andere 'realistische' online shooters komt, dan is Battlefield 1942 gewoon de plek waar je vandaag wil vechten. Als dit spel een voorproefje is van wat 2003 brengt, dan gaan wij volgend jaar niet al teveel zonlicht zien....

t's quite difficult to rate this game, for gamers who will play only multiplayer on pretty fast line (if you have 56K unfortunately you won't have fun with this it' just too slow) it could be 87-89%. But I gave it "only" a 85% because weak single-player component. The bots really are shocking but anyone buying this game to play off line should really go elsewhere :) Those who don't have a powerful enough machine or a fast enough connection to be competitive will hate this game, but if you can get it running, Battlefield 1942 is one of the best multiplayer experiences of the year.

So ist unsere Wertung als Kompromiss zu verstehen: Im Singleplayer hat Battlefield gegenüber der Konkurrenz Schwächen im Multiplayer ist es dafür wirklich klasse. Voraussetzung ist aber immer ein leistungsfähiger Rechner.

Ca y est, depuis le succès d'Half-life et de Quake, on nous sort des vagues de quake-like multijoueurs (sans compter les milliers de mods), sans grandes différences de gameplay les uns par rapport aux autres. Ca n'a rien a voir, mais quand même, c'est navrant : regardez d'où vient le succès : Half-life, un jeu qui était plus qu'excellent en SOLO. Et maintenant, on nous sort des milliards de trucs seulement multijoueurs, avec un mode solo soit inexistant, soit sans interêt, soit simplement pourri. Alors franchement, y'a pas de quoi s'éloigner de certains mods qui n'ont absolument rien à envier aux jeux énormes et qui coutent 50 euros (regardez Counter-Strike [exemple que je n'aime pas personnellement mais obligatoire...] ou Day of Defeat). Alors, franchement, à part leurs graphismes, quels véritables interêts ont des jeux comme Quake III, Unreal Tournament ou Battlefield 1942 ? Pour les 2 premiers, je sais pas, mais je suis là pour vous expliquer ceux du troisième...

In summary, Battlefield 1942 is a massive and ambitious project. Most importantly, it's a hell of a lot of fun, too - but only if played under the ideal circumstances. It's the Rembrandt of video games, but for now, it's been smeared with some tar so that you can't experience it in all its glory. Once EA and DI get their act together (i.e. fix lag issues, hardware reqs, crashes, lackluster bot AI, etc.), this might very-well become one of the most popular online games on the market. Until such a time comes however, I advise you to wait a while before you rush to the store to buy Battlefield 1942 - that is unless of course, you're simply dying to play it, and you must have it at all costs! Telling such a gamer to wait and see what happens would be an exercise in futility, so I'm just gonna shut up and let you make up your own mind.

Hop ! Ni vu ni connu, je déboule de nulle part et je rafle la mise. Battlefield 1942 est une immense surprise pour les amateurs de shoot en réseau. Des heures de joie en prévision, en particulier en multijoueur.

Au final, ce Battlefield 1942 est donc un excellent titre multijoueurs. Son support des véhicules est le meilleur du genre et, cerise sur le gâteau, il en autorise un sacré nombre au sol, dans les airs et sur la mer. Les possibilités de jeu en équipe sont innombrables et les nombreuses commandes radio permettent de coordonner tout ça. Attention cependant, il faudra un ordinateur à la hauteur pour en profiter et il faut noter qu'en solo, il a vraiment peu d'intérêt. Reste que son mode multijoueurs est indispensable pour s'éclater en réseau local et sur internet, malgré un netcode un brin chancelant et un lag assez présent.
