Beat the Dragon is a single player, shareware, solitaire card game. A dragon character appears and makes a sarcastic comment whenever a player fails to complete a game, hence the name.

The object of the game is to transfer all the cards to the foundations building upwards from ace to the king. What makes this game a different to most is the way cards in the game area are built up in sequence and in suit. Suppose in a column there was the king of hearts , the eight of spades and the three and two of hearts (K♥,8♠,3♥,2♥). If another column ended with the nine of spades (9♠) then the eight of spades and all the cards below it could be transferred making the sequence 9♠,8♠,3♥,2♥.

The game has an in-game help function, a scoring system based on cards played and speed of play, a hint function limited to three per game (or one in the unregistered version) and game statistics. It is played entirely with the mouse.

Beat The Dragon Windows This is a difficult game to complete. Sooner or later the game will announce that there are no more moves available. That message will be followed by a taunt similar to this.
Beat The Dragon Windows The game rules open up in a new window. There are three or four such screens and most have an animated 'Show Me' button.
Beat The Dragon Windows This is the help screen that explains the game's scoring system.
