Жаль лишь, что перечисленные ляпы и откровенное разгильдяйство авторов не позволяют пожаловать игре еще более высокого "Выбора". Но такового, впрочем, в природе не водится. А ведь игра, право же, его заслуживает...

Alles kan ingesteld worden naar je eigen wensen. Eenmaal dat gebeurd is zal de uitwerking van Betrayal in Antara ervoor zorgen dat je blijft spelen! Dit is een absolute aanrader voor alle RPG/adventure liefhebbers!

Betrayal in Antara is a great RPG-style game that lives up to its predecessor. It does not break much new ground, but the additions to the interface used in Betrayal at Krondor are well-thought-out and add to the playablility. The background story and plot are well-written and will provide many hours of gameplay. Better graphics would have made this a great game, but it is still a good choice for adventure gamers. Fans of Feist's Riftwar saga looking for a true sequel to Krondor may want to wait for Return to Krondor, however, due out later this year from 7th Level. For those not sure if Antara is what they are looking for, Sierra has made the original Betrayal at Krondor available as a free download from their website, as well as an extensive demo version of Antara.

Betrayal in Antara ist für Rollenspieler ein Silberstreif am Horizont. Seit Monaten ist kein anständiges Rollenspiel mehr auf den Markt gekommen, viele bezeichneten das Genre schon als erledigt und abgehakt. Trotzdem hat sich Sierra nicht davon abhalten lassen, weiter in diesem Sektor aktiv zu sein. Leider wurde anscheinend nur wenig Zeit in die Engine und die Grafik gesteckt, denn sowohl die Hintergrundgeschichte als auch der nicht-lineare Spielablauf können auf Anhieb fesseln.

Was Antara trotz seiner Macken ansprechend macht, ist die Spielbarkeit. Die Handlungs-Unterteilung in kleinere Missionen ist motivierend, die Bedienung angenehm. Kampfsystem und Charakter- Handling liegen gut in der Mitte zwischen Anspruch und Zugänglichkeit. Betrayal 2 ist sicher kein Meilenstein, bietet aber solide Rollenspiel-Unterhaltung.

Betrayal in Antara is very similar in design and concept to the previous Sierra game, Betrayal at Krondor, excepting that this one doesn't have the input of Raymond Feist. Hence the story doesn't contain the familiar themes and characters that Feist fans will appreciate. The Antaran Empire (created by Peter Sarrett) is a new world to explore, however, the game engine is very similar to that used in Krondor with mouse control for interacting with the game world and supplementary keyboard control for movement.

While Betrayal in Antara slightly improves the fine mechanics of the Betrayal at Krondor engine, it still relies too heavily on some of the old engine's methods, which have seriously begun to show their age and which will not be able to stand against the slew of revolutionary RPG's that are slated to hit the market soon. The game has a lot of substance storywise, it's just that it's way too much of a rehash with very little innovative improvements over the old. This game would rest well in the hands of a player new to the game engine, and for those who loved Krondor for it. The rest should look ahead to the future and leave this old engine behind.

Did Sierra wait too long to release a follow up to 1993's Betrayal at Krondor? Undoubtedly, and its belated arrival is unfortunately accompanied by outdated graphics that will considerably lessen its appeal to gamers. But for gamers willing to tolerate substandard graphics and linear gameplay, Betrayal in Antara succeeds in providing an entertaining story and an enjoyable role-playing experience.

I thought BiA suffered from some mistakes in key areas that kept it from being anything more than average. If, at any point, I had felt like I was drawn into the story of the game, or cared at all about the characters, my outlook on this game might have been different. Never was there a time, no matter how far I got into the game, where I really felt engrossed by what was going on. All of the things I mentioned above would have made the game better, had they been improved. Overall, most RPG players will be disappointed with this title. It might appeal more to newcomers or those who really liked Betrayal at Krondor and are hoping for more of the same. While there are some similar elements, this game does not maintain the same level of play as its cousin. So, buyer beware when it comes to Betrayal in Antara.

Meine Begeisterung über Betrayal in Antara legte sich schlagartig als die Vorankündigung der Pressemitteilung mit der harten Realität konfrontiert wurde. Was meine Augen da auf dem Bildschirm erblickten, scheint eine Mixtur aus den schlimmsten Alpträumen eines Computerspielers zu sein. Verknüpft Sierra doch die miese, fehlerhafte Grafik von Daggerfall mit einem DSA-ähnlichen Kampfsystem und einem Spielverlauf, der so wasserdicht ist wie ein Sieb. Eine Unzulänglichkeit reiht sich an die andere.
