Mysteriously, great works of art are disappearing all over the world. Your mission... well... to go and find them, of course! Beyond Time is actually a great adventure that has been kept undercover because of poor graphics, poor sound effects and a somewhat tacky theme. The game starts off a little rocky, but after a while, Beyond Time opens up and the true adventure comes out and envelops you. It is the plot development that truly saves this title, so if you're an adventure fan at heart, and you don't mind 2nd class graphics or sounds, Beyond Time is for you.

Power Unlimited
Beyond Time is zo'n typische point-and-click Myst kloon vol cryptische puzzels en ambient muziek. Beyond Time is naar mijn mening Wasted Time.

Just Adventure
Well. Are you in the mood for a mild trek through the Greatest Hits? Feel like time traveling but you're just a little low energy? Want to visit all of the lovely locations found in Timelapse but just don't quite feel up to all the hard work that will be involved solving all those pesky puzzles? Have I got the game for you! Dreamcatcher's Beyond Time is a lovely first-person game that allows you to travel to ancient Egypt, Tikal, Tibet, and (where else?) Atlantis. It's a perfect way to spend a few hours of pleasant deja vu.

Quandary
The major part of this game is set in ancient Egypt, but via the use of the timegate you will also visit Lhasa in Tibet, The Mayan City of Tikal and also Atlantis. The graphics are detailed and colourful (if not state-of-the-art) and present an interesting world to explore. Overall it is quite good to play, but it really is too short and it doesn't reach the same heights as similar games involving time-travel such as Timelapse. By all means take a look, but don't expect too much.

Adventure Gamers
One of the nice things about playing adventure games is the chance to vicariously visit locations that are far away, exotic, dangerous, lost in time, or simply nonexistent. Ancient Egypt, Central America, Antarctica, Atlantis, Easter Island, Stonehenge, Mesopotamia, Mars, El Dorado, Shangri-La – you name it, you can probably travel there in a good adventure game. Or even in a bad adventure game.

Computer Games Magazine
As lackluster and empty as Beyond Time is, it's still a gigantic step forward from Dreamcatcher's previous title, Soldier Boyz. But then, what isn't?

Adventure Classic Gaming
Beyond Time has had a turbulent developmental history. The game is developed by Jones Square Multimedia. Completed in 1995 under the title Obelisk, the game is slated originally to be released by Virgin Sound and Vision. Unfortunately, Virgin Sound and Vision abruptly exists the publication business just as Obelisk is to be released. DreamCatcher Interactive, the company which now distributes Jewels of the Oracle, picks up the right to Obelisk and halfheartedly puts a sticker on the box as “Proudly presented by the publishers of Jewels of the Oracle”. The implication, of course, is that Beyond Time is going to be a lot like Jewels of the Oracle. Do not be fooled, it is not!
