As stated in the description, Black Moon Chronicles is based on a popular french comic book. The book scenarist, François Marcela-froideval used to work at TSR in the early days of AD&D, and Wismerhill was one the characters he played while doing AD&D 1st edition playtesting. In fact some of the game background comes straight from his playing sessions in TSR offices.

The game engine was used in an other game, Persian Wars, also released by Cryo interactive.
