Summary

For adults only, this point-and-click adventure is a hot and spicy thriller.

The Good

First and foremost, the most attractive part about this game is that it’s sexy. It’s content is provocative but not explicit so it’s an ideal game for those who want adult entertainment without the typical hard core elements of an X-rated movie. So, it’s a good game for couples, and my husband and I enjoyed playing this game together.

The beautiful covergirls of LA Erotica magazine are the targets of a serial killer. To lure out the murderer, LAPD officer Holly Jacobson goes undercover and assumes the role of a model. The steamy red-headed Holly begins the investigation posing nude in an elaborate photo shoot and is then featured on the cover of the magazine. There are numerous suspects including the editor of the magazine itself and his strange wife, the other gorgeous models, and the owners of the strip dance club where many of the girls work. If you’ve always wanted to venture inside a strip club but never had the nerve, you’ll get your chance in this game.

The whole feeling of the game reminded me of Spycraft: The Great Game. Not just a walk through an interactive movie, Blue Heat is a real mystery adventure. Even if you have seen Cover Me, the R-rated movie on which it was based, and already know the ending, the game is still challenging. There are suspects to interrogate, motives to be established and evidence (inventory items) to be found and analyzed. You can make mistakes during conversations too, which can result in a different path or even death.

The cast of characters includes some very familiar faces including M.A.S.H.’s Elliott Gould and L.A. Law’s Corbin Bernsen. Their scripts were very well written, and the dialog is believable and realistic. The graphics and music are nicely done as well. The suspenseful and dramatic ending leaves you with a great feeling of accomplishment when you finally catch the killer and survive the ordeal.

The Bad

In order to solve the game, you must immediately communicate motives and alibis for all of the suspects as you find them. Also, evidence must be sent to the lab for analysis in a timely manner. If you fail to do something on a certain day, you may miss it altogether and never be able to finish.

A couple of game bugs reared their ugly heads when I did something that the developers had not anticipated. Luckily I was able to get around them by restoring and choosing another action or conversation option. You won’t find any support for this game since the developer company was sold.

The Bottom Line

Blue Heat is definitely for adults because of its nudity, violence, language and overall sexual content. The mix of sexy models along with mystery, intrigue, and suspense makes it an entertaining adventure game as well as an aphrodisiac.
