Chain Reaction

I debated giving the game a 6, but decided that some of the low rating I was giving the game was due to my personal frustrations with what I felt was serious limitations on what I could really do in the game. As mentioned before, I found many of the puzzles to just be tedious exercises of moving objects to their obviously appointed spots, and received no satisfaction when that obvious set-up worked like I had expected it would. Still there are quite a few inventive puzzles in the game that will test your problem solving skills, and I think the fans of the game will defend it as one of the better independent games.

As with the TIM games I had a lot of fun tinkering with all the objects in Chain Reaction and watching out for the fireworks as MC made it to his landing pad. It was over all too soon. The good news is that with a toybox containing sixty-nine 3D parts you can build your own fiendish levels and challenge family and friends to solve them.

Das war nix, Mr. Tunnell! Incredible Challenge bleibt in jeder Hinsicht hinter dem zwölf Jahre alten Original zurück. Zudem sind selbst Gelegenheitsspieler in wenigen Stunden durch. Der Anspruch richtet sich an Kinder, die dank klarer Aufgaben und guter Physik Spaß haben. Für die hässliche 3D-Grafik gibt es aber keine Entschuldigung. Der Konkurrent Crazy Machines 2 ist zum gleichen Preis die bessere Wahl.

Chain Reaction n'est rien d'autre qu'un Incredible Machine. Les fans du genre apprécieront certainement cette nouvelle déclinaison du principe (il me semble que c'est la première en 3D..). Les niveaux proposés sont bien fichus, mais loin d'être assez nombreux. Il y a cependant un éditeur de niveaux qui permet d'en créer soi-même très facilement ou d'en télécharger sur le Net. Tout l'intérêt du jeu est d'ailleurs d'apprécier les qualités du moteur physique du Torque Engine. 15 euros pour Chain Reaction.. c'est pas bien cher... mais c'est tout de même trop pour ce que c'est.
