LEAVE NO MAN BEHIND "COMBAT MEDIC: SPECIAL OPERATIONS" PC GAME IMITATES REAL-LIFENew 3D Title from Legacy Interactive Developed Alongside Actual Army Medic
HOLLYWOOD, California, May 3, 2002 - The dangers of sneak attacks and sniper fire. The glory of saving lives on the modern battlefield. Now you can feel the pressure of being a Special Forces Medic in Combat Medic: Special Operations, the first 3-D medical military simulation for PC. The game has shipped to retailers nationwide.
In Combat Medic, players test their skills as a Special Forces Combat Medic charged with saving and defending the lives of company members during firefights in a Middle East conflict. Combat Medic was developed and published by Legacy Interactive, the world leader in Real Life Games, and is distributed by Vivendi Universal Interactive Publishing.
The war-based simulation was created in conjunction with actual Special Forces combat medics, who provided developers with real-life scenarios, combat wound details and feedback.
Commenting on the game, U.S. Army Special Forces Combat Medic Daniel Rembish said, "While playing Combat Medic: Special Operations I felt like I was running the lanes again in Fort Sam Houston. Legacy Interactive has done a remarkable job of bringing to life the world of a Combat Medic. The game captures the intense nature of a medic's main objective - to stay alive and save others."
Assigned to the war front in the Middle East, players advance through 10 critical missions drawn from real-life situations in the field. First, players select from three different medic characters, each with their own skills and advantages. Then comes the mission briefing, and the point at which players must carefully pack their field bags with a limited supply of medical instruments including a tourniquet, survival saw, and bandages.
Upon reaching an injured soldier, players assess the injuries and treat the patient as necessary using the tools of an actual medic. Wounds include amputations, blast injuries, battle psychosis and more. Along the way, players receive hints and feedback in the form of text and voice-overs about how well they are doing. In several missions, players will need to rely on other soldiers and utilize weapons differently to reach and successfully treat patients. If procedures are not carried out properly soldiers will perish on the battlefield. Once the mission is complete, players receive a debriefing and a performance review. Medals are awarded for exceptionally high scores.
Combat Medic: Special Operations includes a "secret" site available only to those players who purchase the game. The site reveals cheat codes, Easter egg codes, exclusive behind-the-scenes videos, and much more.
Players can also visit an interactive product micro site, which includes weekly contests, discussion forums, tips and tricks, wallpaper and promo videos. The site can be found at http://www.legacyinteractive.com/combatmedic.
Combat Medic: Special Operations is available for purchase in retail stores throughout the US and Canada for a suggested retail price of $19.99.
