Combat Mission is the definitive W.W.II. game that you can buy. It's revolutionary turn system combined with the ability to make you think that you are in a war, makes this game a classic in the fullest sense.

It's also a rare case when a game developed by a small publisher (and essentially coded by one person) can stand up to bigger budget commercial releases without apology. Combat Mission has truly done something special for the computer wargame genre, and it will be remembered years from now as the game that turned the genre on its ear. Big Time Software plans to release follow-up games covering the eastern front, North Africa, and the early war, and considering how good Combat Mission is, that's something to really look forward to.

Buy this damn game! Discounting the sequel, Barbarossa to Berlin, there's no finer representation of battalion-sized engagements rendered at a squad level. If that sounds overly qualified and conditional, let me put it this way: this game is a wargamer's dream come true in nearly every aspect. So the graphics aren't quite up to the rest of this year's offerings; so the interface is a bit obtuse at times; so it has a steep learning curve -- none of that matters compared against the utterly comprehensive and instinctively realistic nature of the game.

All in all then, one of the best turn-based strategic offerings available, and one of the most attractive, too. Not only does it succeed in presenting a historically intriguing ambience, it’ll keep you hooked with it’s vast array of maps, game options, etc. For those that can stomach the slow-pace of the genre as a whole, this will be ideal.

Combat Mission se place d'emblée comme le meilleur wargame consacré à la Seconde Guerre mondiale. Son excellente gestion de la 3D, son réalisme et une IA élaborée lui assureront certainement la première place du genre pendant encore un long moment. Probablement jusqu'à la fin de l'année, période à laquelle on devrait voir apparaître sa suite. Autant dire qu'on l'attend avec impatience.

Mänskliga spelare är förstås alltid roligare att slå än din beiga burk och ibland får man till riktigt filmiska scener när din fjuttiga kanon helt otippat får in en lyckträff på en fientlig Tiger.

Combat Mission on hyvin ristiriitainen tapaus. Toisaalta pelissä on hyvä idea ja tehtävät ovat vaihtelevia, korostaen hienosti joukkojen yhteistoiminnan merkitystä toisen maailmansodan aikaisissa taisteluissa. Toisaalta taas pelin jotkin osa-alueet on toteutettu surkeasti, mikä syö pelaamisen intoa. Peliin innostuvat löytävät näpertämistä pitkäksi aikaa, varsinkin kun tehtäväeditori on tehty toimivasti ja omien tehtävien kyhäily on todella helppoa. Erityisen hauskoja pelissä ovat kaupunkeihin sijoitetut taistelut, joissa pitää todella mietiskellä miten joukkonsa sijoittelee. Peli ei ehdottamasti ole huono, mutta parannettavaa löytyisi huimasti.

Die Idealisten von Big Time Software haben im stillen Kämmerlein ein anständiges Strategiespiel ausgebrütet. Das Konzept der simultan ausgeführten Züge funktioniert überraschend gut. Die packenden Kampfsequenzen schaue ich mir gerne mehrmals an, um auch wirklich kein Detail zu übersehen. Für Einsteiger ist das Spiel sicher zu komplex, echte Strategen werden das anspruchsvolle Programm aber schätzen.

Combat Mission revolutiniert die Rundenstrategie: Dank geschickter Kombination aus Zugplanung und deren Echtzeit-Umsetzung in dreidimensionaler Umgebung entsteht eine wunderbare Dynamik. Nie zuvor gab es ein ähnlich realistisches Taktikspiel.

Un jeu qui concernera avant tout un public initié et connaisseur apte à exploiter tout le potentiel de Combat Mission : Beyond Overlord. Si les performances du titre sont en dents de scie, sa qualité globale ne trompe pas faisant de lui un excellent wargame.

Безусловно, обо всем не расскажешь, хотя и есть о чем. Но вот такие мелочи сильно портят впечатление. Ведь бой после нажатия "Go!" — это лучшее, что лично я видел в стратегиях. Баталия захватывает. Атмосфера просто потрясающая. Звук великолепен. Ну почему все это так неудобно??? Клянусь, если сиквел не изменится в графическом плане (это еще можно терпеть), но авторы все же найдут в себе силы сделать игру full real-time и избавят ее от условностей, то 10 баллов и вечная любовь всего AG их детищу обеспечена. А пока Combat Mission можно назвать лишь экспериментом. Не очень удачным.

Denn höchstens Fans dieses ausgefallenen Hobbys dürften dem humorlosen Zweiter-Weltkrieg-Szenario etwas abgewinnen. Wahlweise aufseiten der Alliierten oder der Achsenmächte nehmen Sie an historischen Gefechten, etwa dem Kampf um die Brücke von Arnheim, teil. Weder die frei rotierbare 3D-Grafik noch das langweilige Spielprinzip können auch nur annähernd überzeugen.
