Trivia
In the German gaming magazine PC Player (issue 01/1999) The Curse of Monkey Island was named as "Best Adventure in 1998".
The 'A Pirate I Was Meant to Be' song was dropped in the Italian release of the game too; it all just skips to 'What kind of captain are you?'.

A sequence sorely missed in the German version is the shanty Guybrush's crew sings in chapter three. The song itself being a tough one to translate and the fact that it's part of a (simple) dialog puzzle obviously made the German distributor decide to drop it altogether.
There used to be a department somewhere within Industrial Light and Magic, that was tasked with writing screenplays for animated films based on Lucasfilm's intellectual property from other media. One such screenplay was a Monkey Island movie, entitled "The Curse of Monkey Island", likely loosely based on the game of the same name. In the big reorganization of Lucasfilm that occurred a couple of years ago the department was killed and the MI movie (still in preproduction) with it.
Although no Mac version of the game was released, it is possible to play on Mac OS X using ScummVM and the game files from the PC CDs.
MI:3 was the last LucasArts game to use the SCUMM engine. The SCUMM engine was used to render game moments by projecting traditional drawn animation to to backgrounds.

Íf you look through the hole in the Goodsoup's crypt, you'll appear in the forest from "The Secret of Monkey Island".
Ask Palido Domingo about how long he's been staying at the beach. The answer it will depend on the date set on your computer clock.

Puerto Pollo, one of the main areas in the game, means Port Chicken in Spanish.
Denny Delk contributed his voice for the role of Murray the Skull.
Denny is also known for dubbing Hoagie,Purple/Green/Doctor Tentacle in Day of the Tentacle, King Otar in King Quest 7,
Commander Kielbasa & Jebba the Hop in Space Quest 6,
Santiago the Chessplayer Pirate in Escape from Monkey Island and he was the narrator in Dark forces...
The voice of Lechuck is actually Earl Boen, who played Dr. Peter Silberman in all three Terminator movies.
There's a bug in the game, in the mega monkey mode that allows you to get 2 gold teeth from Blondebeard insted of one .. here's how : offer the jawbreaker then the gum to Blondbeard then break his bubble with the pin and the gold tooth will fall. Pick it up. Next chew the gum and offer the chewed gum to Blondbeard. He will refuse but chew it anyway. When he blows his next bubble you will see the second gold tooth in there. Float the gold tooth you have out the window as usual. After retrieving it in the mud puddle return to the chicken shop. Blondbeard will still be blowing a bubble with the second tooth in it. Pop it with the pin and you have two teeth.
When Van Helgen is doing his guitar riff, Guybrush will pull out a lighter if you don't move him for about a minute.
The dead guy at blondebeard's restaurant is none other
than Manny Calavera - the main character from Grim Fandango ( another game by Lucasarts )
The German version of the game changed the character Rottingham into "Röchelieu" (an obvious pun referring to the cardinal Richelieu, the French politician of the 17th century), and he talks with French accent. I have no idea why they changed it. Another slight change concerned Palido Domingo, which is a parody on the famous singer Placido Domingo. In the German version it was changed into "Blasido". Why is it funny and why did they change it? Because "blas" means "pale" in German! This way, the joke is even funnier, since the name "Blasido" is more similar to "Placido" than "Palido". Other changes: the character Minestrone is called "Meistersuppe", which is "master soup", and Haggis talks with a broad frisian accent instead of the original Scotch.
In Monkey Island 3: Curse of Monkey Island, when you enter the dialogue with LeChuck in part V of the game, Guybrush threatens LeChuck that should he kill Guybrush, there will be no more sequels and LeChuck's name will be forgotten, just like Bobby Threadbare's. Bobby Threadbare, of course, is the name of the main character in Loom, and thanks to the unfortunately low sales of Loom, there never was a sequel. I thought it maybe a little disrespectful from LucasArts to talk in such a way about one of their best games that never got its fair share of praise.
On the in-game menu there's a button which appears as disabled and it says "Enable 3D acceleration", but when you get over it with a mouse, it says "No, really, there's no 3D acceleration in this game."

In a PCgamer sneak preview of the game, the designers admited that Gary Coleman's character, Kenny Falmouth, was supposed to answer "What-chu talkin' about, Guybrush?" to a certain question, but they decided to remove the line since they didn't want to risk offending the former star of "Diff'rent Strokes".

The church clock tower on Plunder Island always shows exact time in reality, Guybrush will tell you exactly what time is it.

Ron Gilbert said that the game was done well considering the tough job they had, but his biggest complaint was that Elaine fell in love with Guybrush. Gilbert says that Elaine thinks of Guybrush as more of a brother, and she would never do something like that.
In the French version of the game, the actor who gave his voice to Guybrush was the same actor who gave his voice to Aladdin in the French version of Disney's movie.

When you are in Lechuck's treasure hold (after the ship capsizes) in part 1, look at "LeChuck's unused comb". Guybrush will say "I'd hate to think what that comb's been through".

If you use the seawater on Blood Island at the beach ( with the hand) about 30 times, you will see the scene in Monkey Island 1 and the Monkey Island 1 Guybrush is there!!!

Murray, the demonic skeleton, was only planned to be near LeChuck's ship in the original script. But thanks to loads of positive feedback on the Curse of Monkey Island demo and some initiative of the programmers, the character was added to 4 other locations in the game in the last few months of development. Murray even has to be used as an inventory item to solve a puzzle at one point.

In The Curse of Monkey Island there's a place where you can enter the 'forest' screen from original The Secret of Monkey Island. You can only see your new Guybrush head, lurking like from some hole in a tree-stump. It's the same forest (and with that little colors used) where you were searching that gold in a look of T-Shirt back while you were still a wannabe mighty & wicked pirate :)

You can notice how all the characters in the game have only four fingers on each of their hands. Hard to notice when you're too busy finishing the story, but you can check the and credits. You'll be able to see that quite clear.

A love song called "Plank of Love" was planned to be in the game but was never recorded. A stanza from the song, written by Chuck Jordan:
Elaine: "Oh, how I love you Guybrush."
Elaine: "Not even your corny jokes'll..."
Elaine: "Make me wish that I was not your bride..."
Elaine: "When you carry me 'cross your fo'c'sle!"
LucasArts initially designed longer end scenes for the game but due to budget and time restrains were forced to drop those plans.
