Description

In Dein Tierheim the player manages an animal shelter. Since the game is aimed at children the most important part is to take care of the animals. The player sees his character in the shoulder perspective and can walk freely to the shelter to reach his destinations. Every animal has six stats which show his physical and mental condition; to keep these up the player needs to do several tasks: feeding, washing, cleaning the compounds, playing and petting. He can also buy accessories which make the animals happy.

The player also needs to buy enough food for the animals. The main resources for covering these costs are accommodation costs and donations. Every appeal for donations costs some money and when the player uses this opportunity too often the people donate less and less until the costs exceed the revenue. There are also regularly people showing up which the player needs to attend to. These either want to deliver or fetch an animal.

In the career mode the player starts as simple keeper and wants to become the managing director. The requirement for a promotion is a good reputation which gets calculated from the condition of the animals, the buildings and the handling of customers. After every promotion the player gets more responsibilities over more species (overall six). There are also two mini games for dog respectively horse training and a free playing mode without restrictions.

There is also an educational component to the game: In the office are several books which deal with veterinary subjects. The player can test his knowledge with a quiz.
