Once upon a time, there was a worm, and unbeknownst to our friend The Worm, intergalactic battles were taking place millions of miles directly above his wormy little head. A supersuit was the cause of the all the ruckus, and in the midst of the struggle, the suit was dropped, fell to the earth, and turned our friend, the everyday worm, into... (*swell of music*) . . . EARTHWORM JIM (EWJ).

Console owners look out! The PC is quickly catching up to cause companies the like of Nintendo and Sega to be on their guard. "Earthworm Jim" the extremely popular game on the consoles has been converted to the PC.

Spillet har masser af action, og både grafik og lyd er flot, utraditionel og sjov, uden dog ligefrem at være genial.

Spielgefühl und Technik sind auf einem halbwegs flotten PC mit solider Grafikkarte einwandfrei. Bemeckern könnte man höchstens ein paar Längen im Levelaufbau und das Fehlen von Punktezählung nebst High-Score-Liste. Der Spielwitz wird dadurch kaum angekratzt: Wer das Genre mag, wird Earthworm Jim lieben.

So what's the final verdict? EWJ is a solid arcade game, adding a large chunk of humor and wackiness into a, at times, fiendishly difficult game. Its animations are well rendered, the sounds are great, and how can you not love an earthworm hero?

The keyboard serves as a decent controller for this side-scrolling game, but to skillfully dodge and shoot the biggest bosses you'll want to play this one with a gamepad. The game is Windows 95 native, so it integrates smoothly into your desktop and there's no installation. Now all Activision has to do is convert the rest of my favorite SNES and Genesis games to PC, and I'll be completely content.
