As DID was bought by Rage during the development of Eurofighter Typhoon, the game actually resulted in a tradeoff: while it was originally designed to be an hardcore simulation, it ended up being made easier for more casual gamers (or as some people say, "dumbed down"). For instance, the contrast between the very extensive dynamic campaign and the simplistic flight model is very noticeable.
