For a game that I thought I would generally dislike, EverQuest has earned my respect. It is a very solid game with a solid community. Omens of War only adds to this. All the fluff was nice with the graphics updated, and the tasks and added game play features. It was a very pleasant surprise with all the added solo content which was my primary way to play. The community, while having some complaints about the power of the epic weapons, are generally enjoying the expansion greatly. I really liked this expansion and how it showed some loyalty to the EverQuest community. In case people are worried, there are still plenty of people around to group with. I can easily see how EverQuest has been at the top for as long as it has been with releases of expansions like Omens of War.

Next Level Gaming
I have been playing Everquest, also known as Evercrack because it is addicting, for over 3 years now. I have been playing it since the Ruins of Kunark expansion was out. Since than I have been through 7 other expansions and this one being the 8th expansion total. I wasn’t going to get this expansion because I didn’t have the money, but I asked about reviewing it and I got my chance. So now I have the latest expansion and liking what I see so far from it.

Worth Playing
Omens is a solid expansion, with enough neat new toys to keep the existing players something to tide them over for a while. It’s also a good sign from SOE that they aren’t focusing the end-game solely on the need to be in a large raiding guild. If you’re a current EQ subscriber, it’s worth getting. If you’ve let your account lapse, deciding if it’s worth coming back for will largely depend on why you left the game; there may not be enough new things to overcome why you left.

Game Chronicles
While it does cater primarily to existing players of newcomers, EverQuest: Omens of War is one off the strongest expansions since Scars of Velious. By listening to the players and remembering that not everyone is streaking for the end game as fast as they can, SOE has managed to release a well rounded expansion that offers significant improvements for pretty much every play style.

GameZone
EverQuest is likely going to draw a big rival in EQII, but with the continued dedication to creating content that players want, generating new content for upper level players, while allowing lower level players the opportunity to play at a more casual pace, Omens of War signals that the original is still a solid MMO experience.
