EverQuest: Planes of Power

One of the bigger updates in the game is the Plane of Knowledge. You can access the Plane of Knowledge from many locations throughout the game world. Once you enter this (you don’t need to be a particular level) you can venture around it to find new spells, sharper your trade, or the biggest thing: transport from one area of the massive game world to another.

Everquest: The Planes of Power (PoP) is the fourth expansion pack to be released for the online world of Everquest. This latest expansion pack unleashes a slew of exciting new features that continue to raise the bar for high level characters including over twenty new zones, quests, more than fifty new monsters, and powerful treasures waiting to be discovered. More importantly, the level limit has been raised from level sixty up to level sixty-five, providing the already experienced players with the ability to fine tune their characters even more by attaining additional levels, skills, and more powerful spells.

While not offering much for players below level 46, The Planes of Power, with its smorgasbord of content, is a very good expansion pack for higher-level players as well as veterans who have been around since the beginning. Even if your system is still chugging a bit, the content alone will make up for it until you can make your next upgrade.

Wer heutzutage Everquest zockt, gehört zur Gemeinschaft der Hardcore-Rollenspieler. Genau die Gruppe spricht Planes of Power an: Eingespielte Partys und Gilden finden in den neuen Ebenen mehr als genug Arbeit, zumal das Spiel nun größere Feindfahrten über das neue Raid-Menüfenster unterstützt. Es lohnt sich außerdem, mal wieder die Musikoption zu aktivieren: Statt nerviger Dudelei erklingen jetzt hörenswerte Klänge. Falls Ihr Charakter jedoch noch nicht Level 46 erreicht hat, sollten Sie abwägen, ob allein die Zeit sparende Portalfunktion den Preis von 30 Euro rechtfertigt.

The Planes of Power offers fascinating new realms to a well-established and enjoyable game. Unfortunately this is a double-edged sword. Veteran players can take advantage of this, but new gamers will have invest a lot of time (and likely subscription dollars) in order to wander through these wonderful new realms.

Planes of Power hält am Leben, was bereits vier Jahre auf dem Buckel hat: Everquest. Die Wirkstoffe: Erhöhung des Stufenlimits von 60 auf 65, 20 neue Zonen, mehr Waffen, Zaubersprüche und Fähigkeiten. Das nunmehr vierte Add-on richtet sich an erfahrene Spieler, die einer Gilde angehören. Die freuen sich über das Raid-Window. Darin lassen sich bis zu zwölf Gruppen ohne viel Aufwand organisieren - ein Segen für alle Spielleiter, die Veranstaltungen organisieren.

And, perhaps above all, EverQuest can still be very rewarding. The original game's designers probably never could have foreseen not just the remarkable success that EverQuest has enjoyed these past three years, but also the way in which the game has grown and kept up with the times. EverQuest's players, meanwhile, truly have helped shape the game's unique world, as evidenced by most all the ways in which the game has evolved, most recently in The Planes of Power.

The Plane of Knowledge is a high point of the expansion, as it opens up the game world for newer players. However, for casual players that isn't really worth $30 to have. Hardcore EQ'ers (such as myself) will definitely get the most use out of it, but if you're trying to decide on what expansion to get I'd honestly recommend either The Ruins of Kunark or The Shadows of Luclin over this one.

Une extension très correcte mais qui s'adressera principalement aux joueurs disposant de personnages de haut niveau. Pour le reste cependant, en dehors des connexions par portails interposés entre les zones, en dessous du level 46, PoP n'apporte malheureusement pas grand chose. Signalons que le add-on est vendu avec le jeu original et sa première extension, dans une version totalement localisée.
