F1 2002

Pouco pode-se falar a respeito do som. Os desenvolvedores utilizaram fontes sonoras reais para dar vida aos seus carros. As conversas via rádio entre piloto e equipe não poderiam ser melhores. A trilha sonora, ouvida durante a navegação pelos menus, também emplogam os gamers. Com F1 2002, a série continua sendo osso duro de roer. E vale uma dica: aqui você pode ameaçar o império de Schummy, ou até mesmo ser o próprio.

Da muss ich doch glatt vor EA Sports meinen Helm ziehen: Die KI der Computergegner ist hochklassig, das Fahrgefühl schweißtreibend realitätsnah und die Grafik exzellent – einen flotten PC vorausgesetzt. Ich bin überrascht, dass sich selbst Grand Prix 4 geschlagen geben muss. Besonders freue ich mich über den reibungslos funktionierenden Mehrspielermodus. Leider kann man im Gegensatz zur Simulation von Geoff Crammond nicht per Hot Seat spielen. Verbesserungsbedarf sehe ich bei den umständlichen Menüs und einigen Schnitzern im Spiel. Weniger stören mich da die respektablen Hardware-Anforderungen. Doch beispielsweise konnte ich im zweitschwierigsten Modus mit nur drei Rädern über 300 km/h schnell fahren – muss das sein? Außerdem wäre ein richtiger Karrieremodus wünschenswert.

In closing, I can only say that F1 2002 is an exciting racing simulation. I highly recommend it to every gamer out there. It makes you realize why Sly is so hyped over this sporting event. Oh and console fans will be happy to know that the game is also going to appear for all next-generation systems (the game's already shipped for the Playstation 2, and is yet to be released on the Xbox and GameCube platforms).

Plugging away at the F1 franchise, EA is now on its fourth edition in the past two years. And as with Papyrus’ much-heralded NASCAR series, this well-crafted Grand Prix racer just keeps upping the ante with each new release. In a case of art imitating life, the EA/ISI crew is rapidly becoming the Team Ferrari of modern F1 racing-sim developers.

Despite several minor issues, F1 2002 is clearly superior to F1 2001 in several important categories, and it's a superb single-player driving game for those who appreciate real-world driving intricacies and generally authentic visuals. Crammond's next Grand Prix had best be a good one, or EA will be wearing the F1 crown for some time.

Now though, here in the year 2002, a lot has changed. EA is no longer exclusive to Sega, as Sega no longer are in the hardware business. Further more, EA no longer limits itself to just football games, as the EA brand name now supports a wide variety of athletic events. In light of this EA has begun to make games based on the F1 license. While previous installments have varied in quality, EA has hit gold with this new installment.

F1 2002 se classe en pôle position des jeux de sa catégorie sur PC. Techniquement irréprochable, il dispose aussi de modes de jeu réussis qui réjouiront à coup sûr tous les amateurs de sports mécaniques. Attention toutefois, le titre n'innove guère par rapport à l'édition précédente ce qui le rend tout à fait dispensable pour ceux qui possèdent déjà F1 2001.

Electronic Arts praktiziert mit seinen Sportspielen die Politik der kleinen Schritte. Hier mal eine Überarbeitung der Grafik, dort mal ein neues Feature, das nächste Mal eine veränderte Steuerung. FIFA-, NHL- und NBA-Käufern ist diese Vorgehensweise längst bekannt, nun hat sie auch die F1-Serie erreicht. Wie bereits bei F1 2001 halten sich die Neuerungen gegenüber dem jeweiligen Vorgänger stark in Grenzen.
