Finally, F1RS ranks above all other Driving Sims. The development of the game was well thought out, as well as the gameplay. Nothing is more fun then following a ghost car in the time challenge. There are plenty of multiplayer options for you to choose from. The upgrades and extra ghost cars can be easily downloaded found on the Ubisoft Web Site.

Endlich kann ich wieder Schumi zu WM-Ehren führen und Jaques Villeneuve in die Schranken weisen. Leicht ist das nicht, denn die Stärke der computergesteuerten Fahrer ist beachtlich – jeder legale Trick wird von ihnen angewendet. Abgesehen von Grafik und Sound profitiert F1 Racing Simulation überall von der engen Zusammenarbeit mit Renault. Die Einstellungsmöglichkeiten, die Kurse und das restliche Renngeschehen sind klar besser als bei Grand Prix 2, das sich damit geschlagen geben muß. Einzig der verkorkste Mehrspieler-Modus ist ärgerlich; offenbar war der Zeitdruck für Ubi Soft zu groß, um hier mehr Sorgfalt walten zu lassen.

Sind Sie auch, wie Nicki Lauda sagte, „etwas emotioneller unterwegs in der Trauerarbeit“? Dann heulen Sie nicht länger rum, sondern schwingen Sie sich ins Cockpit und fordern Sie Absolution. Mit der F1 Racing Simulation erhalten Sie schlichtweg das beste, was Ihnen derzeit über den PC-Monitor rollen kann. Realismus und Präsentation verschmelzen zu einer brillanten Symbiose, die das wesentliche hervorbringt: Spielspaß! Schieben Sie mit mir die marginalen Schönheitsfehler beiseite, letztlich ist die Racing Simulation in der Tat zu gut, um an Kleinigkeiten erhängt zu werden.

F1 Racing Simulation is an extremely well-thought-out simulation with drivers of all abilities in mind. With a midrange to high-end PC and a 3D card, the game looks spectacular, although users of low- to midrange machines will pay the price when the number of cars onscreen can cause the frame rate to bog down considerably. (Just experiment with the graphics options in a single race to maintain a good frame rate before your first race of the season begins.) It would have been nice if the game adjusted the graphics detail on the fly to maintain a certain preset frame rate (as in Papyrus sims). Finally, the game only goes up to the 1996 season (it seems F1 demands a higher price for a more recent license). Other than that, there is little fault to be found. Fans of Grand Prix II should delight: F1 Racing Simulation has all that made GPII a classic and more.

UBI-Soft hat versucht, es allen recht zu machen. Und das Erstaunliche: der Versuch ist gelungen! Die Grafik setzt konsequent auf 3D-Hardware und hat im PC-Bereich derzeit kein Pendant. Die Spielbarkeit ist enorm; mit diesem Programm können sowohl Gelegenheitsfahrer als auch Hardcore-Simulationsfans glücklich werden.

Wie sein offensichtliches Vorbild Grand Prix 2 ist Ubi Softs Meisterstück eine in jeder Beziehung millimetergenaue Simulation des grellen Formel-1-Zirkus. Jene Maßeinheit kommt sowohl beim aberwitzig detaillierten Fahrzeug-Setup wie bei der irre motivierenden Suche nach der Ideallinie vermehrt zum Tragen – lediglich ungeübte Piloten würden den Helm bald frustriert in die Ecke der heimischen Wohnzimmerbox schleudern. Doch dank des extra einfachen Arcade-Modus kommen auch Ungeduldige schnell auf Touren. Quasi nebenbei kriegt der Motorsportfan ein komplettes Pendant zu Psygnosis F1- Simpelrenner mit in die Schachtel gelegt. Wie ein diplomatischer Fußballtrainer möchte ich mir Einzellob verkneifen: Alle Programmteile von der Steuerung bis zur Grafik tragen das ihre dazu bei, daß man F1 Racing Simulation getrost zu den Straßenfegern des Jahres zählen kann.

This simulator is a good all-around game for the beginner all the way to the most advanced driver. Although it isn’t required that you have any sort of controller other than the mouse and keyboard, you will definitely want to have one. The more hardcore you are, the more I would recommend a good wheel and pedal setup and/or a force feedback device. Most likely this game would have scored a few more points if some of the problems I encountered were not present. It can take a while to get things configured and get the hang of the game, but once you do, expect some really great racing unparalleled by other Formula 1 games you may have played in the past.
