Fantastic 4

This review was easily the toughest one I have ever had to do for various reasons. When I bought this game, I had absolutely no faith in the fact that I might actually enjoy the game. I had resigned myself to finally playing and then reviewing an actual “bad” game. Something I have avoided in my years plus here at 2404.org. What I was faced with, was easily one the most fun arcade-type experiences I have ever had on the PC.

Endlich mal wieder eine gute Filmumsetzung! Fantastic 4 ist im kooperativen Modus besonders lustig: Spieler 1 hält den Typen fest, Spieler 2 haut ihm die Futterglunze breit. Sehr schön. Allerdings empfehlen wir zwei Gamepads, denn zwei Zocker an einer Tastatur brechen sich wohl gegenseitig die Finger. Okay, obwohl ich die Kamera manuell nachjustieren kann, geht schon mal die Übersicht flöten - doch mich stört das nicht wirklich.

The game is good, it’s good enough to maybeadd to your movie based game collection, but it doesn’t feel to havemuch of a replay value with it. As nothing really bothered nor annoyedme in the game to give it a bad rating, nothing really stood out so thegame doesn’t deserve an outstand rating. Maybe borrow the game fromsomeone you know who has it and try it out.

Fantastic 4 is een middelmatige consoleport met aardig wat spektakel maar veel te weinig memorabele momenten.

I cannot recommend Fantastic Four for PC, because it doesn't hold a candle to superior superhero games like Freedom Force or City of Heroes, both in level design and control. I can recommend it on console, if you can endure the weak points long enough to get to clobberin' time.

Is F4 the game to topple Spider-Man 2 or the X-Men Legends? Hardly. It does share much in common with Legends however and fans of one should definitely check out the other. What F4 does deliver is a fun and clever beat ‘em up in the style of Fighting Force which will satisfy you while it lasts and may keep you busy on a rainy day when you have a friend over. There are wonderful extras to be unlocked and fans of the comics will definitely appreciate this title more than non-fans. The Stan Lee interviews are truly worth it (and fans of Alba do get a nice interview with her as well!). Unlike many superhero games though, this one does enough things right that I look forward to a sequel; maybe one where I can choose to be one of the Fantastic 4 at a time and roam around the city fighting crime? At the very least give this one a rental, its worth it just to try out the various powers.

Moim zdaniem producenci gier za rzadko myśleli o tym, by stworzyć jak najbardziej wciągającą, klimatyczną grę, a za często o dochodach, jakie wiążą się z wydaniem gry o takim a nie innym tytule. Historia lubi się powtarzać – Fantastic 4 niestety nie jest wyjątkiem od reguły.

Der PC-Ableger des Kinofilms zum Marvel-Comic, in dem die vier Superhelden seit 1961 die Schurken der Welt das Fürchten lehren, orientiert sich nur grob an der Filmhandlung (in einer Hauptrolle: Jessica Alba). Stattdessen wird die Story um zahlreiche Nebenschauplätze und Zusatzmissionen erweitert.

Overall, Fantastic Four feels like just another half-baked attempt at making a game based on a movie. The story fails to capture the spirit of the film or the comics. The game does not allow players to explore the full potential of each character and offer enough diversity in the implementation of their super powers. Minor technical glitches become frustrating as you proceed through the levels. It is hard to recommend Fantastic Four to anyone except for those who especially enjoy the comic books or the movie. Given all its problems, the relatively short game is much better suited for a rental than a purchase. There are countless other games out there that will make a better addition to your game collection than Fantastic Four.

To quote the Armchair Empire’s own Kurt Kalata, Fantastic 4 is “a competent, if somewhat unremarkable, beat ‘em up.” He was writing about the Xbox version, but the same can be said of the PC version, which will appeal to fans of the film and those not old enough to have experienced the classic beat ‘em ups like Captain Commando, Final Fight, and Streets of Rage.

"Fantastic 4" é um jogo competente, que oferece a chance de destruir tudo e a todos com os fantásticos poderes do quarteto. Mas, na maioria das vezes, o jogador estará simplesmente apertando botões a esmo, procurando o inimigo mais próximo para socar, intercalando com pequenos filmes e minigames. O título não traz nenhuma inovação e aproveita mal as características de Sr. Fantástico, Mulher Invisível, Homem-Tocha e Coisa, que são vistas apenas em algumas situações, em que o usuário mais assiste que joga. No final das contas, é um daqueles produtos feitos para uma diversão rápida e sem compromisso, assim como o filme em cartaz.

Das Ding war mein Vorbild, Sue Storm meine Traumfrau – in jungen Jahren habe ich die Comics verschlungen. Doch mit diesem Spiel wird meine Liebe enttäuscht, zu viele gute Ansätze wurden verhunzt. Team-Kombos kommen in der Hektik kaum zustande, Kamera sowie Maussteuerung sind eine Frechheit, das Speichersystem hat Dr. Doom höchstselbst erfunden. Lediglich die gut umgesetzten Fertigkeiten und die Charaktere retten die Superhelden vor dem Superabsturz. Außerdem hält sich das Spiel eng an den Film und erweitert ihn sogar. Trotzdem: Bei der Lizenz wäre mehr drin gewesen, etwa ein Lost Vikings mit Superkräften – muss ja nicht immer Action sein.

There's an immediate temptation to write off this Hollywood by-product as a "Fantastic 4 out of 10!" It's not that easy, though. The game is a competent button masher with a few mildly interesting twists.but saddled with a whole lot of issues.

Erst eroberten sie die Marvel-Comics, nun stürmen sie Kino, Konsolen und PCs. Doch als Computerspiel dürften die vier Superhelden kläglich scheitern...

Dear God, what have I done wrong in this world? After the mediocre Batman Begins videogame, my boss, the allmighty tyrant that goes by the name Speed, decided to send me Fantastic 4, the game. I know I'm not thy most loyal or humble servant, but I don't think even I deserved this kind of torture. So, please excuse for what I'm about to say and please grant me access to heaven in, let's say, 60 years. Here goes: may you burn in hell, Speed, for doing this to me!

Seul le mode coop à 2 sur le même PC sauve le jeu de la déchéance totale. Si vous comptez jouer seul, Les 4 Fantastiques ne présente vraiment pas beaucoup d'intérêt : linéaire, répétitif, mal réalisé et buggé, il n'arrivera à convaincre que les moins exigeants d'entre-vous.
