The Feeble Files

The Feeble Files deserves your consideration for a very important reason: if you're reading this review, you are most likely an avid adventure gamer. And, as an avid adventure gamer, you seek true adventure--games that challenge you and give you the thrill of accomplishment, that make you feel as though you actually lived the adventure. The word "adventure" itself denotes a challenge that involves investing a good amount of time and that involves using your reasoning, creativity, and tenacity. When I say The Feeble Files is an adventure, I mean it is a true adventure.

Τα όμορφα γραφικά, το έξυπνο ('βρετανικό') χιούμορ και η μεγάλη (τεράστια!) διάρκεια αποτελούν εγγύηση ότι θα το απολαύσετε. Το παιχνίδι έρχεται σε 4 cds και, όπως και τα StS, συνοδεύεται από ένα σύντομο μεν, αλλά πολύ αστείο manual.

The Feeble Files has heaps of dialogue, but, unfortunately, no option for on-screen text so you have to listen very carefully. But the game is well worth playing for fans of humorous graphic adventures. It might prove a bit of a handful, especially for novice adventurers, but it's nice to bite off more than you can chew occasionally. Feeble Files is certainly tasty, and there's a lot to chew over. Apart from the vagaries of the interface and the plodding movement this a wonderful game.

Es ist Floyds menschlich-schusselige Art, die den außerirdischen Grünling so sympathisch macht. Unbeholfen und unterwürfig versucht er, alles richtig und jedem recht zu machen – und springt mit Karacho in jedes Fettnäpfchen. Das spannende Abenteuer wird liebevoll präsentiert und brachte mich immer wieder zum Lachen. Floyds John-Travolta-Imitation muß man einfach gesehen haben, und auch die vielen Anspielungen an Star Wars halten den Gute-Laune-Level hoch. Viele Rätsel sind nur mit extremer Geduld zu lösen und teilweise unfair. Ebenfalls nervig ist Held Floyds Gemeinsamkeit mit einem VW-Käfer: Er läuft und läuft und läuft. Vor allem bei großen Entfernungen vermisse ich eine Option, mit der Floyd sofort den Zielort erreicht. Davon abgesehen, ist Floyd das beste Abenteuer, das seit langem meinen Bildschirm beehrte.

Lachanfälle, Wut, Mitleid, Panik, Erleichterung, Niedergeschlagenheit, Zuneigung, Haß, Triumph – wer Floyd spielt, durchlebt ein Wechselbad der Gefühle, das seinesgleichen sucht! In einem Moment schmunzelt man über die vielen kleinen versteckten Seitenhiebe in der Story, im nächsten Augenblick verflucht man das aberwitzige Puzzle-Design, bei dem man sich manchmal fragt, ob Simon Woodroffe den Spieler einer ähnlichen "Gehirnwäsche" unterziehen will, wie sie an den Gefangenen auf Cygnus Alpha vorgenommen wird – eigentlich ein spaßiger Gedanke. Mit einem Wort: Floyd bietet eine hervorragende Hintergrundgeschichte, die zwar weniger Kalauer aufweist als die beiden Simon-Adventures, aber durch die geschickten Anleihen bei Orwell und Huxley enorm an Tiefgang gewinnt.

Nyt se on todistettu. Viljapelloilla nähdyt ihmeelliset kuviot ovat todellakin avaruusolioiden tekemiä. Muun tekemisen puutteessa ulkoavaruuslaiset tulevat kruisailemaan pelloillemme avaruusaluksillaan. Itku kuitenkin pitkästä ilosta. Eräällä matkallaan kansalainen Feeble joutuu vaikeuksiin törmäiltyään avaruuslaivallaan ja monen kiemuran kautta eksyy tietämättään kapinallisten remmiin. Kapinalliset yrittävät saada hyvän hallitsija OmniBrainin pois päiviltä. Tästä alkaa hurja seikkailu väärinkäsitysten ja yhteensattumien selvittämiseksi.

This is not a flawless product, but The Feeble Files has cleverness to spare, stunning production values, and some refreshingly self-deprecating touches. The lovely high-resolution rendered animation finds itself on the receiving end of some pointed barbs, and even the basic scenario - one man against an Orwellian government - is dismissed in a toss-off line as "cliched, I know." Cliched it may be, but every cliche has room for improvement and The Feeble Files inhabits that room comfortably. The twist at the climax is designed to appeal especially to staunch gamers, poking fun at video games even as it suggests that they will one day (quite literally) rule the world. If these futuristic games are half as charming and witty as The Feeble Files, it just might be an improvement.

Ik vind TFF een zeer welkome afwisseling op de spelletjesmarkt, die tegenwoordig slechts uit Quake-, C&C- en EF2000-klonen lijkt te bestaan. Eindelijk wordt er ook nog eens aan de adventurespelers gedacht.

De mano de los creadores de Simon the Sorcerer llega The Feeble Files, una trama de proporciones épicas, un tratamiento audiovisual diferente y una jugabilidad aceptable; en conjunto, es una grandísima aventura, tipicamente clásica y que te hará pasar mucho rato cuando te atranques y no sepas que hacer. Yo me lo he pasao, y te puedo decir que eso te pasará más de una vez; pero es que con los toques de humor, los buenos gráficos que acompaña y el doblaje, invitan a intentar acabartelo. Un juego más que recomendable.

Guten Orbit, Bürger. Es dauerte eine Weile, bis ich mich in die teils bizarre Logik der Briten hineingedacht hatte, doch die witzige Grafik und die gute Sprachausgabe erleichterten mir die Eingewöhnung. Floyd schafft den Spagat zwischen einem eher düsteren Thema und dessen spielgerechter Darstellung mit Bravour. Meine Motivation hätte allerdings noch gesteigert werden können: Nervige Actionelemente verleiden mir etwas den Spaß - schließlich will ich ein Adventure spielen, und da reagiert im Allgemeinen die Logik, nicht der Zufall.

The Feeble Files, from the people who brought us the Simon the Sorcerer games, is an absolute treat for the thirsty adventure gamer: vast and sprawling, hugely ambitious, wide in scope, original, funny, poignant and touching.

Полное равнодушие к тому, что у нас запросто может возникнуть желание попить чайку или вовсе отлучиться по делам, и святая уверенность в том, что мы после этого обязательно вернемся, сначала даже слегка подавляет. Возникает подозрение, что они слишком уж уверены в нашей любви и вовсе не заботятся о том, чтобы нас удержать!

Podsumowując, gra całkiem niezła, ale raczej nie można jej uznać za hit. Mocno razi bardzo słaba polska wersja gry. Jednak choć częściowo rekompensuje to grafika, jaką cieszą się nasze oczy, i dźwięki, które wydobywają się z głośników. Szkoda tylko, że zamiast muzyki mamy tylko dźwięki :-(. Można tę grę polecić każdemu, gdyż zabawią się przy niej zarówno początkujący gracze, jak i weterani przygodówek.
