O primeiro jogo da série foi exclusivo da PSX, mas o seu sucesso obrigou a Gremlin a transportar para CD-ROM a sequela. Graças aos deuses do golfe!

Actua Golf 2 is a very good golf game, one of the best of the genre currently available - only slightly bettered by PGA Tour Pro perhaps, but a darn sight more playable than Links. But I'm just being picky. I'll leave you with the words of my flatmate, who's probably far more in tune with your standards than I: 'It's one of the best golf games I've ever played.' And who can possibly argue with that?

Mijn conclusie is dan ook dat Gremlin, naast Premier Manager '97, met Actua Golf 2 een tweede topper in huis heeft.

På det stora hela är det här är riktigt trevligt golfspel. Grafiken håller kanske inte riktigt samma höga klass som i de mest välkända spelen, men å andra sidan finns det så många olika banor att välja mellan att man inte lär tröttna i det första taget. Ett bra golfspel med många olika banor och flera kontrollsystem.

If you've only got the inclination or hard-drive space to have one golf sim on your PC, Fox Sports Golf '99 isn't the best choice. But if you're looking for an addictive golfing sim that looks and plays unlike any other, it's definitely worth a look. At the very least, Gremlin Interactive should be lauded for an extremely fine first effort at breaking into one of the toughest genres in PC gaming.

Was lange währt, wird endlich gut! Vor Actua Soccer 2 repräsentiert die Schläger-Sim das beste Spiel aus Gremlins durchwachsener Sportserie. Etliche Spielmodi inklusive Turnier, acht Kurse und beide Schwungarten, also „Maus-Swing“ und „Swing-O-Meter“, sorgen für Prügelarbeit satt. Die Simulationstiefe ist nicht gewaltig, aber durchweg ausreichend. Dennoch dürfte Actua Golf eher die Einsteiger in den Nobelsport ansprechen. Die Polygongolfer watscheln nett animiert über die Grüns, deren Präsentation dank 3Dfx-Support ihresgleichen sucht. Erstmals wiegen sich sogar die Baumwipfel im Wind. Aber Vorsicht: Ohne 3Dfx-Karte wird’s schleppend langsam!

In the end, despite the fact that the Playstation version blew chunks, Fox Sport's Golf '99 for the PC is really not that bad of a golf game. If you don't mind the fact that there are no licenses and all golfers look incredibly generic, it could be the one for you.

In der Zeit, in der ich bei Actua Golf 2 emeinen ersten Pokal gewinne, rieche ich bei The Golf Pro nicht mal an einem Blumentopf. Gremlins flotter Golf-Herausforderer gefällt durch schnörkellose Spielbarkeit und Turniermodus, der eine wichtige Motivationsstütze für Solisten ist.

The bottom line for Fox Sports Golf '99: they should have taken more time to enhance the game and call it Fox Sports Golf 2000. One more year of coding and they would have had a top-notch golf game worthy of a much higher score.

Über Platz-Mangel (acht Kurse!) kann man sich wirklich nicht beschweren, doch die mäßige 3DGrafik und die schludrige Ballphysik machen aus der PlayStation-Umsetzung eher eine Zwischendurch-Golferei für Erfolgserlebnishungrige. Das professionellere, realistischere und schönere Computergolf zelebriert immer noch Links LS 98.

Actua Golf 2 on the PlayStation was very good. The PC version is even better. The emergence of the Actua Swing gives a new twist to the way these games are played, and even though it takes time to get used to, it does give that added feel of realism. There are loads of courses to play through, and with all the different modes of play and multiplayer options it will keep you occupied for a very long time to come.
