Free Enterpri$e includes a detailed and informative tutorial, and is a lot of fun whether you are a business student, a fan of manufacturing or other simulators, or just a casual gamer.

As a way to spend idle time or a way to blow off some steam, I'd have to say Free Enterprise is about as appealing as a real job. Life like, there aren't a whole lot of bells and whistles to keep one wanting to go back to work. You just do it.

All of these design quibbles, however, are fixable. Educators and patient gamers should love it, and everyone should at least check out the demo; personally, I found the game interesting in the short term, but perhaps a bit too tedious for long play.

Free Enterprise is a SimCity wannabe that doesn't come close to achieving its lofty goal. The object is to start and successfully operate a business in an economic climate that reflects real-world issues. With my perspective as a former publishing company marketing director and operations manager, I can tell you Free Enterprise is so far off the mark it's more like a lesson in how not to run a business.
