In the German gaming magazine PC Player (issue 01/2000) Freespace 2 was named as "Best Science-Fiction Simulation in 1999".

Sadly enough, we will not probably see a sequel to Freespace 2. Interplay still owns the rights for the Freespace franchise, while Volition Inc. has been acquired in 2000 by THQ.
