A pacata e bela cidade de New Temperance sempre foi um lugar próspero e calmo... até a chegada dos Gângsteres. Como um dos novos "chefões" do crime na cidade, você terá de montar um império de bebidas e jogos ilegais, dinheiro falso e terror. Você cobrará por proteção e montará cassinos clandestinos. Você corromperá os jovens e contratará capangas. Tudo isso enquanto trabalha para manter a sua imagem, de um comerciante honesto e respeitável. Você será respeitado e temido pelos habitantes da cidade.
Mas, infelizmente, outras gangues também resolveram se instalar em New Temperance, e definitivamente não há lugar para todo mundo. Uma guerra de gangue está para explodir, e apenas uma pessoa poderá comandar o submundo do crime...

SAN FRANCISCO--Dec. 8, 1998-- Eidos Interactive, a worldwide developer and publisher of interactive entertainment products, today announced its PC CD-ROM mobster simulation Gangsters: Organized Crime is shipping. Developed by UK based Hothouse Creations, Gangsters incorporates human resource and business management with real-time strategy.

Gangsters takes place in the 1920's fictional city of New Temperance, during the Prohibition period, where the player takes on the role of a mob boss in charge of a growing crime syndicate. With over 5,000 generated characters, the player chooses the lackeys, lawyers, molls, and accountants in order to generate money and power to ultimately gain control of the city.

"Gangsters puts a new twist on simulation strategy games," said Martin Carr, Managing Director at Hothouse Creations, "The depth and detail offer an experience totally unique to gaming. It's a game where crime really does pay."

The outcome solely depends on the decisions the player makes as the game progresses. As the empire builds gamers can choose the violent route or the passive approach. The results can vary from becoming the most feared man in the city to being loved and voted as New Temperance's Mayor.
