Description

Gensou Shoujo Taisen Kou (Fantasy Maiden Wars Scarlet) is a 2D doujin turn-based strategy-RPG hybrid, similar to the Fire Emblem or Super Robot Taisen series. It is a fangame based on the Tōhō universe. It is the first game in the series, and retells the story of Embodiment of Scarlet Devil with many characters from other games.

The game offers two overlapping routes for the main heroines, Reimu Hakurei and Marisa Kirisame, with a third, unlockable Sakuya route added in through a patch. The player controls several characters - main heroines and other Tōhō characters, like Keine Kamishirasawa, Alice Magratoid, Nitori Kawashiro, Youmu Konpaku etc. - and must defeat the enemy's forces. These are Kedamas, Fairies, or several other characters like Sakuya Izayoi. All characters have their own abilities and stats. While the main game takes place with a top-down grid view, duels are shown in separate screen as third-person battles. Characters gain experience points after each challenge to reach higher levels. Between and during fights the story is furthered with dialogbetween the characters and NPCs.
