Als je deze eeuw nog één racespel wil kopen, laat het dan Grand Prix Legends zijn. Tenzij je liever niet met realistische simulaties te maken hebt, natuurlijk. Maar je kan toch geen kind blijven?

Ubi Soft und Psygnosis prügeln sich in regelmäßigen Abständen um die offizielle Lizenz der aktuellen Formel 1. Daß es aber auch ohne sündhaft teuere Vertragsvereinbarungen geht, wird von Grand Prix Legends eindrucksvoll unter Beweis gestellt. Obwohl unsere Generation die Saison von 1967 nur aus historischen Rückblicken im Sportfernsehen kennt, übt sie dennoch eine gewaltige Faszination aus. Die tollkühnen Piloten mit ihren waghalsigen Manövern werden in der Formel 1 schmerzlich vermißt, so daß man sich bei Grand Prix Legends immer wieder freut, ohne technischen Firlefanz den Kampf Mann gegen Mann austragen zu können. Für andere Hersteller wird es sehr schwierig, die nahezu perfekte Fahrphysik zu übertrumpfen. Die kleinen Unachtsamkeiten im grafischen Bereich werden durch die ausgezeichneten Soundkulisse ausgeglichen und fallen nicht besonders schwer ins Gewicht.

GPL is een mooi en vooral verdomd lastig race-spel geworden. Het onder controle houden van een Ferrari uit 1967 is duidelijk andere koek. Realisme ten top dus. Verder kan een spel waar Zandvoort in zit bij mij natuurlijk niet kapot.

Grand Prix Legends isn't for everyone, but that little adage is true of many of the finer things in life. Provided you've got enough computing muscle to run it smoothly and the patience to stay with it long past the first feelings of frustration, Grand Prix Legends will reward you with arguably the most intense racing experience ever seen on a personal computer.

Top notch, well done, pat on the back etc. The marriage of detail, fact, history and Papyrus' incredible new racing engine make a perfect package in this game. I can't stress this enough, Grand Prix Legends isn't an arcade type of game that you load up to spin around a few laps. The intense attention to detail and super physics engine provide you with the perfect tool for experiencing racing history. Without a doubt Grand Prix Legends gets my vote for `Racing-Simulation' of the year.

Kommt drauf an: Hardcore-Rennspieler finden in Grand Prix Legends trotz kleiner Schwächen die ultimative Herausforderung. Gelegenheits-Raser zählen nach dem x-ten Abflug in die Pampa die aus Verzweiflung resultierenden Bißspuren am Lenkrad und bewerben sich darum, den neuesten Duden „Die besten Flüche von A bis Z“ schreiben zu dürfen. Zu welcher Gruppe Sie gehören, müssen Sie selbst entscheiden.

With so many racing simulations out there, it is nice to see a historical theme in one. While the cars may have been simpler than what exists today, the racing certainly wasn't. This game requires a good level of patience and skill, and will reward you well when these are achieved. The superior graphics add a lot to the amount of realism you’ll encounter. Aside from the bit of trouble calibrating and assigning controls to my joystick, this game is quite solid and a lot of fun to play, which is why I gave it a score of 85.

Amateurs de jeux d'arcade, passez votre chemin! Grand Prix Legends est une véritable simulation, difficile et pointue, pour les fans de course qui n'ont pas peur de passer des heures sur un circuit à améliorer leurs réglages pour gagner quelques centièmes... Le tout est doté d'une réalisation parfaite... Grand Prix Legends est une des meilleures simulations automobiles actuelles.

Grand Prix Legend permet de revivre la saison 1967 de Formule 1. A cette époque, ces bolides n'avaient pas grand chose à voir avec les Formule 1 de nos jours. En effet, elles intégraient beaucoup moins d'éléments visant à réduire la difficulté de conduite, et ces voitures étaient beaucoup moins sécurisé. Il n'était pas rare que des pilotes se tuent. A cette époque, les dépassements étaient beaucoup plus nombreux, et les courses très disputées.

Faszinierend ist an Grand Prix Legends die hervorragend eingefangene Atmosphäre früherer Formel-1-Rennen. Bis auf den häßlichen Monaco-Kurs kommt das 60er- Jahre-Feeling auch optisch voll rüber, die Motorsounds sind erstklassig. Allerdings sieht die Grafikengine technisch sprichwörtlich alt aus. Der Software-Modus ist selbst auf einem PII/300 nicht flüssig, der vorläufige Verzicht auf Direct 3D inakzeptabel. Das sind letztendlich zwar Kleinigkeiten, verhindern aber den Vorstoß von GP Legends an die oberste Spitze der ernsthaften Rennsport-Simulationen.

Wer virtuelle Formel-1-Weltmeisterschaften sammelt wie andere Leute Briefmarken, sollte sich mal die "Grand Prix Legends" zu Gemüte führen: Dabei lernen selbst Profis die Tugend der Bescheidenheit zu schätzen.

Though frustratingly difficult at times, GPL is unique, and it successfully captures the essence of 1967 Grand Prix racing. Give it a spin, if you dare.
