GREEN BERETS comes with the original MYTH II CD, so if you haven’t played it yet, and RTS is your bag. you won’t he disappointed. To the MYTH II WWII RECON grognards out there: This game is for you. With 10 well-made missions and a variety of units, the game’s depth is well worth the small price.

Green Berets isn't a bad game, but neither is it going to wear a hole in my hard drive. The gaming is tense, the firefights exciting, and the price reasonable, but poor mission design and dated camera controls sink the game into the upper echelons of mediocrity. 'Nam fans and non-production based RTS folks may get a kick out of it. Others may want to stay clear.

Unfortunately, the camera angles harassed me to no end. Any other controls were easy to learn, and even more fun to put into practice once I got the hang of things. The graphics are good, but its obvious that a little tweaking could have been done. These are all minor quirks in a well thought out game. Its nice that you get a copy of Myth II when you purchase Green Berets. If you are a fan of Myth II , then there's no question as to if you should get this game. If you are a strategy type of fan, then Green Berets is probably right up your bowling lane. It takes a lot of patience to excel at this game, but in the end its all worth it.

Myth fans may enjoy the novelty of new solo missions and multiplayer maps that add a good number of new units, but veterans in the community could likely name a number of free mods that match the quality of Green Berets on a smaller scale.

When the battle is over, Green Berets comes away a bit of a wounded warrior. Despite some exciting battle sequences, solid replay value and the inclusion of Myth II, Green Berets suffers from poor mission design, a bland presentation and vexing camera control. With numerous community mods available for free, I can really only recommend Green Berets to diehard Myth fans. As for the rest of you soldiers, there are bigger battles to fight.

Bungie's Myth games brought an intriguing premise of small-scale tactical battles to the real-time-strategy genre, but the format never caught on, and sold poorly, despite improvements in the sequel.
