One of the main characters in Ground Control is a one Major Tom. Could this be a reference to David Bowie's "Space Oddity"?

The Ground Control training session voice, as well as the Crayven Corporation field voice is supplied by Heidi Ernest, the same voice as Homeworld's Karan Sjet, the Mothership.
