Heroes of Might and Magic III: Armageddon's Blade

aka: Heroes of Might and Magic III: Ostrze Armageddonu, HoMM3:AB

Windows version

Extremely Addicting. Hard to get into for new players, but very gripping once you figure it out.

The Good
A buddy of mine got me hooked on it, he told me all the tips, tricks, and basic tactics. Once I figured for myself how to play and actually PLAN things and build my town correctly and troops and so on, I couldn't stop. The immense creativity behind the creature's names and traits makes me give the creators a big thumbs up. Troop transporting, mine capturing, hiring other heroes, battle tactics -- THIS GAME TAKES THINKING, and is anything but boring once you factor in all the variables that can unknowingly alter your scenario. Not your average mind game, definitely ABOVE average. Well above.

The Bad
I thought the movement, both on the map and especially during battles is VERY weak and corny. Also, I think sometimes the AI (Computer) can be very greedy and kick your @$$ despite your best efforts, even after setting the difficulty level on minimal.

The Bottom Line
If you're into a relaxing yet thought provoking, and, at times, heart-poundingly suspenseful story adventure game, Heroes III won't disappoint you. If you're looking for immense special effects and lifelike graphics, it might. And if you're looking for an easy-to-figure out boring time waster, then it definitely will disappoint you, because it's anything but.
