High Impact Paintball

Вы, наверное, думаете, что я пошлю эту игру в отстой и назову провалом года. Не угадали! Это хит. Бесспорный, кристально чистый, своевременный и уникальный в своем роде. После пары патчей, исправляющих проблемы с управлением и совместимости с Riva TNT 2, и вовсе будет неотразим, но… только для любителей неразделимого тандема кино — поп корн; для тех, кто десять раз прошел всю серию Deer Hunter, залив клавиатуру слюнями восторга; для их родственников и знакомых, даже во сне не прекращающих воспроизводить жевательное движение, а также для всех остальных гарных амерiканськiх парубков.

The game officially sucks, in large part due to the lack of ingenuity shown by its creators, but mainly because of shoddy gameplay and dense AI (perhaps they were going for Absence of Intelligence?). Take Nerf Arena Blast, gut out the workmanlike level design and fun-filled variations, and it'd look a lot like the horror that's galavanting about Wal-Mart as High Impact Paintball. If you ever encounter a member of the design team on the proving grounds, in the name of all that's holy, don't think twice about aiming below the belt. After all, turnabout's fair play.

There's nothing wrong with giving paintball fans a computer version of their sport, nor is there anything wrong with creating a shooter that's devoid of ricocheting gibs and plumes of blood. However, it's reasonable to expect a game about small-arms combat - even a nonlethal version like paintball - to get the adrenaline pumping with quick action or mounting tension. Unfortunately, High Impact Paintball has neither.

Le paintball est une véritable institution dans nos rases campagnes. L'adapter en jeu vidéo semble de prime abord une bonne idée. Seulement, un concept ne fait pas un jeu et sans une réalisation à la hauteur, le résultat ne peut être que décevant. High Impact Paintball allie avec majesté les meilleurs idées avec une technique déplorable. Reste à imaginer une suite avec le moteur de Quake 3...

High Impact Paintball boasts 'all the fun, none of the pain', but isn't that what Paintball is all about? The fear of pain? The adrenaline rush that results? High Impact Paintball fails to bring that aspect to the table. There are way too many flaws in High Impact Paintball to recommend it to even the most enthusiastic Paintballers. Save your money for the real thing.
