Kokonaisuutena polakkien pirupeli on massan yläpuolelle nouseva napakka toimintarypistys. Juoni pitää koukussaan melkein koko pelin ajan, vasta loppumetreillä ote vähän kirpoaa, mutta muuten seikkailu rullaa eteenpäin reippaasti eikä tunnu ainakaan pitkitetyltä. Vaikkei Infernal millään osa-alueella olekaan uraauurtava uudistaja, se tekee kunniaa lajityypille ja lainailusta huolimatta seisoo omilla jaloillaan.

This game certainly had potential but now is stuck in superficialness and this results in a lot of missed opportunities. Not much more to say really.

When it comes to shooting and killing, Infernal doesn’t disappoint. Mercenaries and mini-bosses were no pushovers—we needed to score head shots and use cover to avoid losing our own noggin. The game includes plenty of exciting weapons, ranging from RPGs to plasma rifles, and everything gets kicked up a notch when you enable hellfire. Soft bloom and subtle lighting effects had us convinced that the developers went all out with the visuals. Too bad we can’t say the same about the gameplay.

YouGamers
A generic shooter that will keep you entertained for a few days. The general story concept of a clash between the forces of good and evil is fine, but the actual plot is full of holes. Abuses some annoying design conventions from the past and doesn't even bother to innovate - decisively average and far too short.

GameBoomers
This game received mediocre reviews, mostly, I think, due to its very old-school style. If you can get by the odd premise, the less-than-striking settings and the sometimes mundane banter, you can have a real blast with Infernal. It sets up difficult enough challenges that your average gamer will need to replay the boss showdowns to get through them, but not so much as to make you throw up your hands in frustration. It's basically a linear shoot-‘em-up romp that gives you a chance to be bad for a time. It doesn't have much “re-playability” (what a word!), but I would still recommend it, especially for the reasonable price for which it can be found at some online game dealers. Don't look to be blown away; just have some good shooter fun.

IGN UK
For all its flamboyant gameplay tweaks, there is something very primitive in the way Infernal plays out; a lack of sophistication that will sometimes have you looking for a coin-slot. The third-person perspective lacks fluency and gets in the way, and you never feel properly submerged in the supposedly epic struggle between Good and Evil. And still there is enough going on, enough moments of frenetic pleasure, that it will probably find an audience willing to forgive those flaws. The rest of us though, are probably better off resisting temptation.

Cheat Code Central
Infernal is not without its charm despite its shortcomings. It's like dating a really good looking girl with no personality. You will definitely expect more from this game, but if you're willing to work with the available goods, you might be able to have some mindless fun.

Atomic Gamer
In the end, Infernal will take you a paltry six or so hours to complete - less if you need fewer souls to drain as you go through the five main levels. With no multiplayer in sight and little reason to ever touch this game again, this one asks a lot of the buyer with its $39.99 price tag (available in stores or via Steam. It feels like a budget game and it really should have been one. Unless you're just dying to play yet another shooter with the same old stuff you've seen in all the rest, then just avoid this one.

GameSpy
What Infernal has to offer is very simple, pretty graphics, showcased in a variety of levels that take you from a mountainside monastery to an offshore train yard to an aircraft carrier, paired with decent action and surprisingly fun boss battles. Is all this worth the various niggling problems in the game? Barely. You'll probably fare better if you take this game in small chunks rather than a marathon session; still, if you look hard enough, there's some fun to be had.

Digital Chumps
Infernal has a lot of flaws, but it manages to be fun, at least for a while. The single player campaign is only five missions, but the missions are fairly lengthy and you will probably get near eight hours of play out of it if you stick it out until the end, which isn’t a given. I suppose this is a good time to mention that the game crashed on me twice during the first four hours, too. After that, there is no reason to play it again and no multiplayer, so there really isn’t a lot offered here for the asking price of nearly $40.

Jammer!

GameSpot
The single-player campaign will take between six and eight hours to play through, and that's about it because there is no multiplayer component to the game. So once you've played through Infernal, you'll probably never want to play through it again. It's not that it's a mess of a game, but it's not a very compelling game either. In the end, Infernal's issue is that it has got lots of style but very little substance.

You have to go all the way back to Daikatana's robot frogs to find a shooter that opens as ineptly as Infernal. It does get better, thank goodness, but someone really should have reminded developer Metropolis Software about the importance of first impressions -- because if this had been a blind date, I would have excused myself to the bathroom and climbed out the window after the first hour.

FileFactory Games / Gameworld Network
Infernal is as dull as watching flies copulate on drying wet paint. The story is trite and ripped off, the characters are completely two-dimensional, and the gameplay is terribly repetitive. It looks and sounds okay, but that's about all we can say in its favor. Unless you have a penchant for dullness in your shooters, or just really like a biblically inspired game, we suggest you skip this one.

Worth Playing
All in all, I think Infernal is better suited as an arcade shooter than anything else. Nothing about the game particularly stands out, the level design is simple, the storyline is generic, the graphics are of the current generation, and the gameplay is mediocre at best.

Game Informer Magazine
With all the tedium this game delivers, it's easy to forget that you're participating in a classically hackneyed struggle of good versus evil. I'm still undecided as to if this is a good or bad thing.

Lennox becomes more powerful in the dark and by proxy becomes weaker in direct light. His 'mana' is boosted by remaining in dimly lit areas (as well as draining the souls of recently felled victims) and gaining energy in this way is an on-going element to the gameplay. This does, on occasion, lead to some memorable moments - a battle early on in the game forces you to 'create darkness' by shooting out the lights above you in order to defeat your enemy as he consequently 'relights' the area. However it's not amazingly inspiring, and certainly nothing close to innovative. Graphics aside Infernal is a pretty mediocre third-person shooter in a genre already boasting Resident Evil 4 and Gears of War: given this, and Gears' inevitable arrival on the PC, it's difficult to recommend Infernal.
52
GamingExcellence
On the box cover, Infernal looks attractive. Good graphics, classic holy-versus-unholy storyline, and hellish abilities all seem to make for an action-packed romp with some intense battles. Unfortunately, this is not the case with Infernal. What you get here is a pretty-good looking game with shoddy gameplay. Powers granted straight from the big bad guy himself don't really do a lot ,and just shooting identical enemies over and over to some generic rock music tends to get old, really quickly, just like this one.

Jolt (UK)
The further into Infernal you get, the experience gets mildly more tolerable – new powers such as telekinesis and infernal sight improve matters and the arsenal of weapons perks up, but there’s no avoiding the fact that game is still almost unbelievably dumb, awkward and lacking in imagination and good design. It’s nowhere near being a hellish failure and it’s possibly even worth a go when it’s cheaper, but on its own Infernal is little more than a good looking tech demo for Ageia’s PhysX cards, a fantastic endorsement for mittens, and the perfect gift for overly religious relatives.

IGN
Infernal isn't entirely of the nauseatingly familiar variety. Its teleport system has potential that really should have been capitalized upon. It's got some nice visuals, flashy fire effects, lots of glowing outfits, and performs well. But in response to the question of whether it's worth buying, the answer is most assuredly no. We'd go so far to recommend getting a gamepad and Resident Evil 4 instead, even knowing full well how awful a port it is.

Video Game Talk
Infernal is a speedy single player experience that’s over in about 5 to 7 hours. Ironically, I was excited to complete the title quickly to end the lackluster, repetitive gameplay that plagued Infernal. The horrific enemy A.I. and the sub-par fighting mechanics destroy any entertainment value that existed in Infernal. Add in the absence of a multi-player mode and you have a title not worth buying. Don’t waste your time on Infernal, just leave it to collect dust on the store shelf.

Pro-G
As I stated right at the start of the review, Infernal isn't a bad game. If you want a competent third-person shooter that looks pretty smart you could do a lot worse, but there's nothing about Infernal that stands out. In its own battle between Good and Evil, Infernal's evil side shines through a little too often.

Eurogamer.net (UK)
Infernal has very little interest in fighting against any of the clichés of videogaming. This serves to make it both somewhat objectionable and the sort of thing you can accidentally lose a weekend to that you honestly did not enjoy. In its better moments it's a guilty pleasure, in its worst it's embarrassingly retrograde. By being consistently fairly slick with it, it easily avoids skimming the lowest depths, but really it's the kind of game we've all long since grown out of. Or so I like to tell myself, anyway.

Game Informer Magazine
Most of the puzzles and boss fights either don't challenge the player at all, like the above example, or have solutions so arbitrary that they don't make sense. A few are noteworthy, but having one interesting encounter every two hours during this strictly linear adventure isn't going to convince anyone to play this game. Angry Guy is a cliched dud of an antihero and the storytelling is clumsy at best. I love the subject matter, but Infernal does nothing to take advantage of it --- or be a fun game in it's own right.
