No matter how you hook or slice it, JACK NICKLAUS 6 breathes fresh new life into what could have been a tired old franchise. Variety, innovation, and long-term appeal make JN6 a must-have.
GameGenie (1999)
Overall, this was a great golf game that has appeal to every kind of gamer out there. Even those who think that golf is boring will find enjoyment from playing Jack Nicklaus 6. The great playability combined with the number of features, the awesome graphics, and the great sounds all make this game a classic. The course designers adds uniqueness that every game needs to survive in the current game et, and it also lets you make courses that are a lot of fun to play. The bottom line is that if you love golf games, then this is definitely for you, and even if you are somewhat interested, check it out because this game is worth the time.

Jack Nicklaus Golf 6 proves that sequels can keep giving. The game has a few niggling bugs, but almost all of these are fixed in the patch. Once again, the Golden Bear is back on top as the king of golf sims.

If you have to buy only one golf game this year, make it Jack Nicklaus 6.
Golden Bear Challenge is a great game. It doesn't yet have all the features available in Links (or at least have them polished to the same degree), but is still an excellent game. The physics are wonderful, the animation is fantastic, and there are some really nice options. The little problems or small things left out are minor points, but enough to shave off a few points here and there. Bottom Line: Excellent graphics and animation. The sound is great, and the commentary is on target and lively. Physics are excellent, the ball bounces and rolls very realistically, especially on the green. New shot types and chip angles are well done and infinitely useful. Swing meters require too much fine point accuracy, and other little problems here and there drag the game down a bit, but not enough to complain too much.

In terms of graphics it's a big improvement on its predecessor - the players no longer look as if they're in the middle of a bowel movement when they swing, and the animation is incredibly smooth. But what really matters is that it's so easy to play and get into that you can start playing competitive games from the off. Luckily, while you do occasionally send your ball into bunkers, trees and lakes, you feel completely in control of your clubs. As with most golf games these days, you can choose between a three or two-click swing, and the infamous 'mouse swing'.

For the most part, I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing JN6. The game makes some nice improvements over its predecessor and manages to close some ground on Links, which didn’t do much with Links 99. I still find Links 99 to be a better overall title, but the ability to create and download so many different courses definitely makes JN6 an attractive choice. With some improvements, such as better graphics and an easier interface, the Jack Nicklaus series should continue to improve and put the pressure on Links. As it is, JN6 is a good choice for anyone who wants the variety provided by the many courses available or simply wants a change.
