Adrenaline Vault, The (AVault)
Water racing constitutes a very special and unusual niche on the personal computer. There have been only two major retail PC offerings in this category: Powerboat Racing from Prometheus Designs and Speedboat Attack from Criterion Studios. More recently, an Internet-based publisher, Fiendish Games, released Jetboat Superchamps, which has been a popular download. But each of these had different deficiencies, either in boat handling, artificial intelligence or audiovisual effects. Now Small Rockets, a little company with offices in England and Russia, has developed Jetboat Superchamps 2 for online publisher Real Networks in the hopes of making the biggest splash of all.
If you're looking for a mindless boat racing game, Jetboat Superchamps 2 is a fine choice. The lack of many tracks provides for some note of discomfort, as you'll beat all the levels fairly quickly, but it's a fun ride while it lasts. Jetboat Superchamps 2 certainly acts and plays like a casual console racer, and it excels at that.
