Le Mans 24 Hours

Le Mans 24 Hours is a great racing game, but I think you have to be a racing or exotic car fan to really enjoy it, even though it's probably the best racer on the PC right now. The load times mixed with a zany difficulty threshold might throw some folks off. I had a lot of fun playing it, but was a little unenthused with the load times, and the fact that it didn't play well at all for a machine that met the minimum requirements, if not a tad more. If you're into racing though, Le Mans 24 Hours is a great game for the most part, and the fact that you don't have to race a 24 hour race all the time (thank you Options) makes it a more accessible game in your own home.

Le Mans 24 Hours is een racegame die de klassieke wedstrijd zeker eer aan doet. Goede graphics, een uitdagende gameplay en een prima besturing. De absolute top haalt het spel echter niet, daarvoor kent het teveel schoonheidsfoutjes. Ik heb me er desondanks prima mee vermaakt.

Overall, there is a lot to like about Le Mans 24 Hours. I am a racing game junkie and will play just about anything. It has to be noted that if you are a Gran Turismo fan on the PlayStation and PS2, you will probably like this game. There isn't as much tweaking and upgrading and tuning, but Le Mans 24 Hours captures the same feel and gives you the same satisfaction as Gran Turismo 3, so it is definitely worth checking out. If you aren't a big racing game fan, you probably won't dig Le Mans 24 Hours too much. If you are a racing fan, Le Mans 24 Hours is the PC game of choice.

Auch wenn Sie für 24-Stunden-Rennen nichts übrig haben, könnte Ihnen Le Mans Spaß machen. Denn Infogrames hat vorbildlich darauf geachtet, daß auch um das Kernstück des Programms herum noch jede Menge los ist. Die Strecken sind gut designt, die Konkurrenz fährt fair, der Optionsumfang stimmt. Schade nur, daß ein Schadensmodell fehlt; auch die nervtötenden Kommentarfetzen und der fehlende Mehrspielermodus sind dicke Minuspunkte. Summa summarum bekommen Sie mit Le Mans ein solides Rennspiel, mit dem Sie weit mehr als 24 Stunden Spaß haben dürften.

Le Mans 24 Hours will never be a classic but it is a solid racing game for casual fans of racing games who are big fans of the ALMS racing series. Therefore, it is unlikely to appeal to a lot of people, making it pretty much just like its real life counterpart.

Was macht an einem Rennspiel Spaß? Entweder das spektakuläre Fahren mit kontrollierten Drifts oder aber das Beherrschen eines perfekt simulierten Fahrzeugs. Ein Rennspiel, das beides nicht bieten kann, ist - Die 24 Stunden von LeMans. Die 24 Stunden von LeMans gehören zu den bekanntesten Rennsportereignissen. Erfahrene Piloten, eine anspruchsvolle Strecke und nicht zuletzt aufregende Fahrzeuge aus mehreren Klassen machen das französische Straßenrennen alljährlich zu einem echten Nervenkitzel.

En liten detalj som störde mig under mina spelsejourer var de långa laddningstiderna man tvingas genomlida. Jag har en dator av det snabbare slaget och minne nog för att driva vilket krävande spel som helst men under Le Mans-laddningtider hann jag nästan gå och sätta på en kopp kaffe och vattna blommorna innan det var dags att köra. Okej, lite överdrivet, men det är såna detaljer som till viss del förstör spelupplevelsen. Nu när det är ont om bra bilspel på marknaden framstår Le Mans som ett klart godkänt alternativ men har ni ont om pengar bör ni kanske tänka efter först innan ni köper det.

Unfortunately, no number of guises can change the fact that Le Mans makes a far better console game than it does a computer game. Despite the work of a new developer, Australia's Melbourne House, and a modified physics engine that admittedly makes it slower and more realistic, Le Mans has awkward control, horridly clumsy interfaces, and several annoying console game conventions. In short, Le Mans 24 Hours has been milked over and over again without ever receiving a serious face-lift for the PC, and that's just not good enough compared to today's top-level computer racers.

Vraiment pas de quoi être subjugué. Pour le premier jeu utilisant la licence officielle des 24H du Mans, Infogrames nous offre un jeu peu attrayant et manquant singulièrement de peps et de qualités.

Although technically the ingredients for a great game are here, including long races with pits for tire, fuel and rudimentary setup options, the game fails at its most important job: the feel of driving. There's no sense of grip being gained or lost, weight transfer, risk of damaging the car, or many other principles of racing. You just bump your way through the field, slowing down enough so that a hard twist of the wheel will get you around the bends, and if it doesn't, you just mash the brakes, turn and continue. In short, racing becomes rather boring quickly.

Infogrames screwed the pooch by not updating this two-year-old console property to reflect the capabilities of modern PC gaming rigs. There’s still a surprisingly entertaining game hiding underneath all of Le Mans 24 Hours’ woeful compatibility issues, but only if you don’t mind lots of reboots.

After installing Le Mans 24 Heures, the chills ran over my back. One of the intro screens mentioned that this game was a PS2 conversion. Experience taught me that when a game has it’s roots on a PS2, you can be sure that there is absolutely nothing realistic about it. It’s arcade, it’s action, it’s the American way: a lot of show but with little depth.

Le Mans 24 Heures est un portage de la PlayStation 2, avec tout ce que cela implique. La jouabilité et la réalisation n'ont pas bénéficié de toute l'attention nécessaire. Dommage.
