The Legend of the Prophet and the Assassin

I can only recommend to pay attention to every tiny detail in this game, to look at everything precisely - then you are able to solve the puzzles. I enjoyed "Legend" very much - it was a pleasure! For me the only disappointment was the abrupt end of the game: suddenly without warning the game ends leaving As Sayf without ever coming near the prophet Simon on his search. You will read the sentence "To be continued ..." and you are also told that Arxel Tribe will publish the second part of "Legend" next year. Such an ending after a wonderful game!

A very original story line (it's not often we get to play a "bad guy") with great graphics, music and sound effects. Character depiction and voice acting are both very good. The game would have been better had it installed and played more smoothly, presented more clues for the puzzles, and removed irritating timed segments.

Overall, The Legend of the Prophet and the Assassin is a mediocre product. It has problems everywhere -- from the sound to the story to the puzzles -- but nothing about it is so bad as to make the game unplayable. And I’ve played much worse adventures lately -- Arthur’s Knights comes to mind -- but Legend is still hard to recommend.

The Legend of the Prophet and the Assassin is a game that will encourage you to think and to question the values of its main character. You do, after all, play as a thief, as a knight errant who proposes to seek peace but has no qualms about fighting and killing to obtain a goal. There are even times when thievery will be required to obtain an inventory item. Nor is this a game that will insult your intelligence--I had to look up the meaning of more than one word. Yet even as the game builds to a crescendo, as you hope for As-Sayf to experience an epiphany, at the very end you are left feeling disillusioned and dry-mouthed even after a victory over the Ghouls and a revealing dream sequence. LOPA can only be recommended with the following caveat in mind, for it, like this review, is ... to be continued.

The story is quite interesting as far as it goes but there isn't that sense of resolution or completion so, to be fair, it really does need to be labelled as part one of a two part series. Many players may wish to wait until they have both games before commencing this journey.

Au final, La Légende du Prophète et de L'assassin constitue un titre dont la dimension du scénario n'est pas suivie par la conception ni la réalisation de ce soft. Les possibilités offertes par le gameplay sont beaucoup trop réduites et le champ d'action du joueur est cloisonné pour donner le sentiment d'un certain manque d'interactivité.

There is not one redeeming factor in The Legend of the Prophet and the Assassin. A court order should be issued that all gamers must stay one hundred yards away from it. Bad slideshow graphics, poor sound acting, horrible gameplay, it's all not here. It's in the running for Worst Reviewed Game, with Airport Tycoon/Inc/Mogul and Hot Wired. Superb.

Legend är en tragisk historia som bör undvikas. Det finns inte särskilt många problem att lösa och därmed går det att ta sig igenom de fem kapitlen, utan några större problem. Något som gör speltiden ännu kortare är att miljöerna är ruskigt oinspirerande vilket skrämmer spelaren till att antingen lösa problemen fortare eller stänga av spelet för gott. Det finns ingen anledning att stanna och lukta på blommorna som i LucasArts titlar. Låg Legend under förra årets julgran hemma hos dig? Tro mig, jag känner din smärta!

Seine leichten, grüblerischen Bücher werden millionenfach verkauft, was Arxel Tribe einen Anreiz gegeben haben mag, aus den Stoffen stimmungsvolle PC-Spiele zu weben. Eines davon heißt nicht ganz so knapp und packend Die Legende des Propheten und des Mörders.

Das alles ist so spannend wie ein Lexikoneintrag über Steinformationen im Jemen.

A moins d'être résolument fanatique de Paulo Coehlo et de ses oeuvres littéraires, très peu d'éléments se révèlent convaincants dans cette aventure de La légende du Prophète et de l'Assassin. Avec des graphismes corrects mais un gameplay dépassé depuis longtemps, aucune intensité ne permet de s'immerger dans une quête où le rêve s'apparente plus à un prétexte pour justifier la platitude du scénario.
