Adventure Lantern
Lifestream turned out to be an impressive first game by Christopher Brendel consisting of a solid storyline, fun puzzles and an original ending. The novice and the seasoned gamer will be able to enjoy the game and appreciate what independent developers have to offer.

The long cut scene that unfolded at the end of the game explained most things, while leaving some mysteries. I thought the ending was satisfying. It was sort of bittersweet and poignant rather than being a completely happy ending. But I don't see how the story could have ended otherwise without seeming forced. I generally don't like unhappy endings unless they work with the rest of the game. I felt this one did.

Tap-Repeatedly/Four Fat Chicks
Ultimately, it all boils down to this: Lifestream is a fun little jaunt. It isn't the world's longest game—about eight to ten hours—but it's enjoyable nonetheless; and although I wasn't surprised by the ending, I did find it infinitely satisfying, much more so than the last couple of games I've played. Its story made me want to find out more about Randolph's search, the puzzles kept me entertained and the hunt for Easter eggs had me clicking like a madwoman.

Adventurearchiv
As is the case in Gabriel Knight we slip into two roles, what benefits the game and makes it more interesting. Besides I must emphazise the prominent voices, which provide additional flair to the characters. The puzzles sample out extremely entertaining and varied. If one sums up all factors, the bottom line is an atmospheric adventure game with exciting story with scarcely anything to criticize. With Lifestream Christopher M. Brendel found his very own style and created an absolutely convincing adventure.

Just Adventure
This is a very good game for those who love a good story. It is Chris's first offering to the Adventure Gaming community and shows a lot of promise. His next offering, Shady Brook, promises to be even better. And at only $20US for the Game and Guide combo it is a bargain. I would encourage you to buy it (available only at his web site). I did.

Adventure Gamers
A surprisingly moody piece about esoteric organizations and human nature that never takes itself too seriously. Brendel’s low-budget adventure game will permeate players minds and have them contemplating the existence of the Lifestream even as they shower at six a.m. in the morning.

Quandary
I enjoyed the 8 hours or so it took me to play, and it is another feather in the cap of independent games and what can be achieved predominantly from home. Set your sights at the right level and you should be pleased with the result.
